There's a reason this is the top-rated B&B in the area. It’s a beautiful old house with a wrap-around porch, spa facilities, and the most charming hosts, Bob and Betsy. From the minute you arrive until the time you check out, they are going to do everything they can to make sure you are comfortable, well-fed, and entertained. There are so many things they will do for you: providing plush robes in the bathroom, giving you a space heater in case you need it on cold nights, calling your restaurant to make sure you get a good table, and providing complimentary tasting passes to local wineries just to name a few.

Our room was immaculate and the breakfasts were delicious, plentiful, and always beautifully-presented. On our first morning we had fresh fruit salad with yogurt and granola, banana bread, egg enchiladas with homemade salsa, and sausages. We especially loved the fireplace in our room and the wine and cheese hour at the end of the day. The house is surrounded by majestic redwoods and is just a 5 minute drive from the charming town of Guerneville, the Michelin-starred Applewood Inn Restaurant, and the beautiful Armstrong Woods state park. There are many wineries close by and it's an easy 20-30 min drive either to the coast or to Healdsburg.

On our last morning, we had an early flight so we expected to miss breakfast. However, Bob surprised us by getting up an hour or two early just so we wouldn’t miss his signature dish, Bananas Foster French Toast – now that’s hospitality!

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Santa Nella House just prior to Thanksgiving and our heading up to Ashland, OR to spend the holiday with family. Everything met our expectations including Bob and Betsy's great hospitality. The breakfast each day was great, not just the typical continental style. Bob's homemade berry buttermilk pancakes were exceptional. We booked the "Library" room which is at the back of the B&B adjacent to the kitchen and library with a nice, comfortable couch, and good selection of books to read if one so desires. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very nice and included a fireplace which we used one evening. Bob served wine and cheese nightly promptly at 6p, which was a nice way to end the day, prior to heading out for dinner. Several really nice restaurants to choose from within a 10 - 15 minute drive, and be sure to consult with Bob and Betsy for recommendations. In fact, on 2 occasions, Bob called and made the reservations for us! Overall, a very nice stay, at a great place in the heart of Russian River Valley wine country. Will definitely stay with them again when in the area.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms most likely a bit quieter than the Library Room only due to the proximity to the kitc...

Lovely B&B--exceptional service by owners Bob and Betsy. The lovely house had lots of character and rooms were pretty and comfortable--we especially enjoyed the fireplace in our room. Breakfast was delish. Would definitely stay again.

We knew this place was going to be wonderful before we got there, but little did we know just what an amazing experience it would be! On our way back from our honeymoon in Hawaii, my husband and I wanted to spend two days in Wine Country, and two days in San Francisco. We have some very good friends who came upon the Santa Nella House a few years ago and highly recommended it to us. Without hesitation, we booked it!

As soon as we pulled up to this beautiful residence, secluded in the forest on a quiet road, we were excited to see the rest of the house. When we arrived, we had a bottle of champagne waiting for us....a gift that our friends sent (the ones who had recommended the place to us) for us to celebrate our honeymoon. What a thoughtful gesture and a great way to begin this part of our journey!

What a gorgeous home it is, with a quint wraparound deck, jacuzzi, and outdoor sauna. There's a living room and a library, and of course, the dining area where you eat breakfast. The breakfast, alone, is worth the stay! Bob and Betsy create a new culinary delight every day of the week. The meals were healthy and filling, and we were so appreciative of the thought and care that went into creating each scrumptious breakfast!

After fueling up for the day on the delicious breakfasts, it's hard to decide exactly what to do because there are just so many possibilities! The B & B is right in the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County. (See map for an idea of how centrally located it is - you can fin it at this link: http://www.wineroad.com/maps/russian_river/) We had no clue as to how big this whole section of CA actually is! if you haven't been to Napa or Sonoma yet, make sure you closely examine a map so you can get your bearings in regards to where things are located.

The first day we arrived, we went to a few wineries not far from the Santa Nella House. Korbel isn't too far down the road, and it was neat to try some different champagnes. The next day we ventured off towards Sonoma for the morning and afternoon, and then to Napa towards the evening. Obviously we didn't know everything was so far apart, or we wouldn't have been so ambitious! It was quite a busy, but scenic day! Next time we go, we will have a better system for exploring, especially now that we know about the Russian River Valley and the quaint Santa Rosa area.

We were able to squeeze in a quiet walk through Armstrong Woods, not far down the road, one morning before breakfast. (My husband said to tell your husbands that this is where "The Return of the Jedi" was filmed, just in case they needed extra motivation to go explore this area of California!) It was one of the most peaceful moments I can ever recall experiencing. It was just us and the massive Redwoods towering over us....absolutely amazing!

Bob and Betsy are absolutely fabulous! They are so kind, accomodating, and thoughtful. While we were there, we were able to enjoy an evening on the deck, sipping wine with some of the other guests.

They also gave us a discount card that provided free or discounted tastings in the Russian River Valley. Additionally, they were so helpful in their suggestions of places to visit or good restaurants where we should eat. They even made reservations for dinner for us!

We were sad to go, but will definitely be back! It's a beautiful home, in a peaceful place, with the kindest hosts and the best breakfasts. What more can you ask for? We'll toast to that!

Stayed one night on a US driving holiday, stopping on the way from Tiburon to Napa. A good location just outside Guerneville - a pleasant small town in Russian River wine country. Warm welcome from Bob the innkeeper who showed us around and deposited us on the patio to enjoy a few glasses of wine with cheese. We returned to our room upstairs to find our cases had been carried up their without us knowing - a nice touch.

The house itself is a beautiful mansion in excellent condition - especially liked the veranda to sit on. Our room (the Gold Room) was a good size with nice furnishings and a very comfy bed - could have happily stayed more than one night.

Excellent dinner in Guerneville at Boon, a great night's sleep, and an excellent breakfast the next day at a communal dining table - Bob knows how to cook breakfast. Checked out and Bob took time to recommend a short vineyard tour, and we followed his advice to go to nearby Porters Creek and Thomas George vineyards for free tastings.

Only minor negative was that the loud Monday night football on in the lounge could be heard upstairs and at 10pm we just wanted to sleep, but this was a very small glitch during an excellent stay. Would return.

Room Tip: Would definitely recommend the Gold Room.
