I pride myself on doing a lot of research when booking a hotel. That's what Tripadvisor is for and I use it myself quite often to find out what others thought about a particular hotel. I have never been steered wrong when Tripadvisor has been my tipping point for a decision. This property was booked as a last minute need and I did marginal research and did not check Tripadvisor as I usually do. The point of the trip was to visit sites that were iconic and kitchy. Glen Capri is the original "neon" hotel so I was excited about stepping back in time. I guess when putting my desire out to the universe I should have been more specific about where I wanted to end up when I stepped back. I felt very uncomfortable with the area around the hotel. It didn't feel safe to me at all and if we had the opportunity, I likely would have cancelled our reservations here and stayed somewhere else. The staff wasn't necessarily unfriendly but I felt as if I was imposing on their personal time when I made the reservation and I wasn't given a confirmation number of any sort but was told to talk to "XXXXX" when I checked in and he would make sure we got settled. Okay? The rooms were average size but were a step down from a Motel 6 in crispness or that clean feeling. I'm not sure what my expectations were but not what we got for sure. The price wasn't bad, being so close to Burbank, California but I wouldn't feel comfortable staying here again.

Not a place to get a massage or a view; if you like fancy toiletries or lotions - gotta bring them with you. This place is all about comfort and efficiency. Both times I've stayed, rooms have been quiet and while the beds aren't SweetSleepers by any standards, they are clean and have given me an excellent night's sleep.

Room Tip: Corner Bistro next door has a fantastic breakfast.

My wife's family and myself stayed in three rooms at the hotel in mid January. Our room smelled really bad. Everything else was average at best. The worst part is that they were filming a movie while we stayed there, and it was impossible to sleep until about 2:00am. After they stopped filming, trucks were running around loading stuff. Constant loud beeping from trucks backing up kept us awake. We couldn't park in the lot because of the filming, so we were asked to park on the street in a questionable neighborhood. While it was sort of cool they were filming there, I wish that management would have advised us of the activities they had planned. We would have stayed elsewhere and gotten some sleep. Good internet though.

The Capri looks bad from outside, rooms and cleaness is fine though. Ask the reception for a discount at the best breakfast place in Glendale, Foxys Diner. The guys at reception are okay if you ask them nicely... They have not taken a course in service or politeness.
