I recently stayed at the Weller House in Fort Bragg. I want to compliment Vivien on her gracious hospitality and for making coffee so early in the morning (I'm an early riser) and then serving the most delicious breakfast imaginable...what a way to start the rest of your adventures after having spent a restful night in one of the upstairs vintage rooms wbath. I felt welcomed as if I were family and I was impressed with the upstairs 'tango' room that can also be a multi-use room for her vision of creating the restful retreat in Ft. Bragg.

Room Tip: Corner suite is large and sunny - nice to wake up with sunshine flooding the room.

Staying at Weller House in Fort Bragg was delightful! Just the right atmosphere and location for exploring the Mendocino Coast and an amazing value as well.
Each room is lovingly and uniquely vintage but up to date comfort. Inn keeper and owner, Vivien is a delightful hostess and makes you feel right at home. The full breakfast is such a treat---yummy homebaked coffee cake and breads, wonderful fresh orange juice , frittata, yogurt and more. A surprise is the amazing dance ballroom on the 3rd floor and the water tower with its quaint rooms up the outside stairs. Walk to the ocean!

My girlfriend and I stayed here on Oct. 28th, 2011. Upon arrival, we had a beautiful view of the sunset from the Inn, which is blocks away from the beach. We were greeted by an elderly woman who was welcoming and happy to see us. The owner, her daughter, then showed us to our room, which was the Tuscany. It's a great deal for the price and location, and the room was set up very elegantly. Unfortunately, the fireplace wasn't working that night, but we didn't need it as the weather was perfect and weren't planning on staying in the room all night. We were offered cheese and crackers, as well as delicious wine, and they gave us a grand tour of the place.

The house was built in 1886, and has authentic victorian design all throughout. Upstairs there's a giant ballroom, which the owner later told us is used for Tango dancing events. It's open to occupants, where you can do anything from play your own music (sound system is provided) to doing yoga/meditation. Although it's historic, it's kept up very well. There's also a water tour behind the Inn, and is open to walk around and experience the beautiful view of the coast. An old steam train comes by the Inn in the later morning.

The Inn is also located a block away from North Coast Brewing Co., where they have the brewery (tours are available), a restaurant, and a gift shop all across the street from eachother. The Innkeepers also suggested we check out a great restaurant a few blocks down the main street, Mendo Bistro (vegetarian options available and delicious). They were very knowledgable and gave great advice.

The breakfast was amazing: fresh eggs from a hen located in the chicken coup by the water tower, homemade scones, delicious oatmeal with jams and marmalade made by the owner, toast, bagels, fresh coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. The owner told us she may not be able to provide this due to budgeting issues, so please come here to keep the breakfast coming!

Overall, it was a great experience, affordable especially given the location, comfy and welcoming. We will definitely come back!

Room Tip: The Tuscany is very affordable and worth every penny. It's located on the bottom floor on the fr...

I've stayed at the Weller House three times now, once with the previous owners and twice with the current owner, Vivian. My fiance and I visited this past week for our first trip alone and it was incredible! I originally requested one of the rooms in the water tower, but once we saw it, I realized I preferred the Aqua room in the main house. It is the best room in the house, great view, nice big jacuzzi for two, big comfy bed. Vivian gladly accomodated my request to switch rooms.

In the mornings, she served us fresh homemade oatmeal, eggs from the resident chickens, thick slices of bacon, and freshly squeezed orange juice! She provided a nice assortment of breads and delicious jams and butters. I don't think we've ever eaten so much bread in one sitting but we couldn't get enough of the spreads!

The ballroom is an amazing feature of the Weller House. My fiance brought his guitar to play and said the acoustics in the ballroom rivals those of professional recording studios. There is also a nice collection of various types of music available to listen to while enjoying a good book under the window.

Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a weekend or weekday getaway...and order the chocolate covered strawberries....

Vivian, if you read this, thank you for the wonderful hospitality and we'll see you next year!!

Having visited this establishment 2-years ago, I resolved to stay there on my next trip to Ft Bragg. Vivian (the proprietor) as well as her predecessors have obviously made a huge investment in updating and entirely refurbishing this historic 3-story mansion, down to some of the smallest details. While being faithful to the period architecture and decor, the property is entirely renovated. Of particular note, to me anyway, are the in-room (private) bathrooms which have all new plumbing and modern fixtures that are yet esthetically harmonious with the era of the house. The rooms were immaculate and well appointed with antique furniture, again, harmonious with the period of the house. I enjoyed undisturbed sleep in a good bed and had my breakfast prepared to order the next morning. Vivian stresses organic and locally produced items in her meals. If interested in staying here, you might want to check out her monthly promotions and events. If you're into Argentine tango, this is THE place to stay in this region. There's a redwood and hemlock ballroom on the top floor of this mansion and Vivian regularly schedules world famous tango dancers to come to this remote corner of the world to teach classes and perform. Altogether, this is quite the trendy place to hang out! Enjoy your stay! Chris Miller 206.930.0003

Room Tip: Its a quiet neighborhood so the room location isn't a big issue. As as to what's available...
