We stayed 4 days here and enjoyed close proximity to both beaches and shops.

The rooms were large with good mattresses and pillows.

Staff was very friendly and there was free morning coffee in the managers office.

Parking is difficult with small spaces allocated for cars and you must back out onto busy US101.

Stayed here two years ago and was much nicer. Was upset how much it's gone downhill and was surprised it's part of the Choice Hotel chain since most of these hotels are basic but nice. Television in rooms were a pain to use, bathtub had paint peeling off, bath towels were very thin and the size of hand towels, no coffee maker in room and concrete on stairs was chipping off and hazardous. To top it off we paid $170 plus for this dump. Although location was close to beach you'd be better off going a few miles inland for less money and much nicer room.

Typical of the chain. The room we had was a long walk down a long maze of corridors and far from the elevators. The room was expensive and just average. The staff were young and disinterested. The location was ok but no views

Located on the Coast Hwy just down the street from one of the best breakfast places around, the Roadway Inn offers clean rooms at an affordable price. The towels are a bit light weight and the there is a train track across the street, but we enjoyed the sounds of the trains going by. Free internet, lots of parking and more. Morning coffee and juice. A nice affordable choice in a central location.

Room Tip: Away from the street is quietest as are upstairs rooms.

First the front desk staff is clearly unfriendly. But the manager over there is a liar and a crook. She charged us $55 for "cleaning" but refuses to show evidence of this. First she claimed they had to replace the mattress, but then she changed her story. Guess what a mattress doesn't cost $55! It's a lot more than that for sure. And if she truly had to hire people to clean the mattress then where are the receipts? First it was only me and a 4 yr old staying in the room and we were both violently sick with stomach flu so we stayed in bed and the only reason we stayed an extra day was because neither of us could get out of bed. So, yes, they have to wash the sheets but that's no more than the usual cleaning you expect at any hotel. We've stayed in many hotels.. easy to prove.. and NEVER has any of them ever charged us any cleaning fees nor for that matter any charges for damages. We are of course opening up an investigation with my bank, and if necessary will take them to small claims court. They will not get away with this so easily. My advice to anyone, do NOT stay there and if same happens to you, then take them to court.
