I believe each of us should be opinionated, make our own minds up about everything and create our own personal reality.
From a personal view The Heron is almost a second home to me. It's neighborly, unpretentious and nurturing. Of course living 5 minutes away enhances the experience but I would certainly drive further to get there.
It's a throwback to another, more familial era, off the main road, surrounded by greenery on every level, comforting views, communal tables on the patio where you can meet your future best friends. Free music Sundays throughout the summer, early start-time, bring the dogs and kids and it's light enough when you leave to find your way home.
Tom the man in charge and his entire staff is gracious and hospitable You may dine indoors at the bar, in the spacious dining room or the tables out doors.
The kitchen aromas are mouthwatering (I love onion rings) and there are several good beers on tap.
Yeah, it gets noisy sometimes when the Giants are on TV and winning. There's room to dance outside, it's pooch-friendly and dress is whatever you feel like wearing. The forested backdrop is delicious, it's easy to find and the patrons are friendly and welcoming. BBQed oysters during summertime, Wednesday night Meatloaf and Lasagne specials for $11 or less and rudeness and hostility are never tolerated. One of my faves!
