“3rd time, no charm”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

I've stayed here 3 times. The first two times were fine Clean, comfortable room, reasonable price. The location isn't the greatest, it's not really central to anything touristy. But for the savings compared to downtown or anywhere along Santa Monica Blvd neighborhoods, I'll drive a little.

This time around though, the smell of cleaning supplies was overwhelming. I could hardly breathe when we stepped in the room. The whole floor we were on kind of wreaked of cleaning fluids, so I don't think it was just that room. And the next morning when I passed by another room's open door with a cleaning lady, the smell was overpowering. Luckily the window can be opened a little so when we left in the morning I left the curtains and the window open. When we came back that night I closed the window and turned on the heater, but the cleaner smell seemed to even be coming out of the HVAC unit, so we used the spare blanket.

On top of all of that, the TV in our room didn't work. And every time our neighbors laughed we could hear them like they were in our room. And someone kept slamming a door a couple of times an hour which would shake the whole wall. I don't think I'll stay here again, just too much went wrong this time.

This hotel appears to have been recently remodeled. The lobby was very modern, with a restaurant taking up most of the space. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with a fresh and updated bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The only down-side was that the room faced the 405 freeway, and you could hear it from inside the room. I would stay here again but would ask for a room that doesn't face the freeway.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from the freeway side.

Flying in for business is always tiring and makes me weary, particularly as you are staying in strange hotels and usually flying in the night before you get to work. I try to stay at Mariott's wherever I can when travelling for work, and this was no exception.

This hotel was wonderful. The front desk staff was attentive and quick to process my check in. I was provided with a check in welcome package, and a fresh cookie. I found my room very clean, and perfect for business travel. The desk had a pull out rolling table that I could roll over to the couch or further back from the TV, and the internet connection was fast enough for my needs.

The parking lot is somewhat of a hassle, requiring you to check in at the front desk with your parking stub to ensure the day's parking is charged to your room in advance of your trying to check your car out of the lot. That could certainly be explained better or streamlined, but relatively minor issue.

The lounge area is a nice area to sit and have a few drinks with coworkers after a long day of work, and the staff is attentive. In the mornings the lounge offers a full breakfast with eggs, sausage/bacon, waffles, bagels, etc. That's a great benefit to those travelling on business, being able to grab breakfast at the hotel before heading out.

This was well located about 10 minutes from the airport, with major freeways nearby for easy travel around Los Angeles. Sony and MGM are right across the freeway, as is a mall.

We chose this hotel because it was close to friends we were visiting and will definitely stay here again when we come back to visit. The cookies and the front desk staff at check in were both excellent! Fun and friendly and competent and most welcoming. The room was a little tight but certainly big enough for our two queens which were soooo comfortable. The only downside for a retired couple on a budget is the extra cost of $28 for a breakfast for two and the $10 parking fee. However, it felt good to know our car was being watched and had we wanted, there were plenty of less expensive breakfast places within walking distance. Must say, the breakfast was delicious--made to order omelots, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, you name it. So, we will definitely be going back to this hotel and will probably opt for the breakfast even though it is over our budget!

niec stay for a business trip - a short walk to the offies. Room was large and clean. Room service and bar service very good. Internet was slow at times mainly in the evening when most people were probably using it. The beds however coudl do with extra blankets in winter.... I had a freeway room and it coudl get noisy at rush hour - but it was nice to have a window in a hotel that opens.!

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the freeway
