We stayed for three nights in Estate Kares. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend it to others! Georgia is such a charming, lovely, friendly, helpful and kind person who really makes you feel like you are part of the family. We ate Georgia and Sophia's amazing Greek cooking every night we were there. It was delicious!! (They even accommodated our gluten free and vegetarian needs. Thank you! You can tell they really work so hard to make Estate Kares what it is! Our stay in Estate Kares definitely wouldn't have been the same without them! :)

A quiet, family-run resort with wonderful views. Very relaxing and off the beaten track. Friendly, personal attention from the wonderful staff. Two kilometre dirt road leads to the estate adding to the sense of getting away from it all. Good, comfortable and clean accommodation - a little bit dated, but has a homely feel. Sitting outside on the balcony, overlooking a valley of olive groves and vineyards with the sea and island backdrop, occasional goats bleating, swallows, kestrels flying around - just stunning. Great locally sourced food. Only downside is that you need to drive everywhere, but a small compromise.

Traditional Cretan Village - much more than just a hotel!
A lot of time, thought & planning has gone into this place by the owner & it shows. Its like an oasis surrounded by breathtaking, far reaching views with a lovely pool, loungers & seating & well set out quiet spots dotted around to eat & just relax. Surrounded by fascinating culture & historic places to visit which are all just a short journey away & gorgeous beaches are within easy reach too.
Accommodation:
Very good value for money for what you get - we had a studio which included a jacuzzi bath as well as a separate small bathroom, a lounge area, wifi, TV & dvd player, comfy bed, nice decor, outside private terrace area & all very clean.
Food:
Good breakfast selection with plenty of choice ie home made jams, breads, ham, cheeses, home made savories, home made cakes, fresh fruit, fresh juice etc.
Dinner - evening meals are on a garden terrace with views for miles. Authentic & lovingly home cooked food by Georgia are available if you would like to eat at the hotel. She loves cooking for people & you can see this in the food she serves.
Staff - the staff are all friendly, helpful & hard working. Georgia (the manageress) lives & breathes being in the hospitality business as she's always smiling & happy to help you. A very genuine person, shes clearly very dedicated to her work but most of all, she makes you feel very welcome & she feels like a relative or friend as soon as you meet.
This is the most relaxed we have ever been on a holiday as we miss this place & the people very much. A perfect holiday made very special by someone like Georgia - every hotel needs a Georgia!

Room tip: Studio room are excellent

Never before have we experienced such a warm and hearty welcome at a holiday accommodation. At Estate Kares, Georgia really makes a difference. Her main mission is to make sure you have a comfortable and relaxed stay.

The location is wonderful, about 2 km off road, quiet and relaxing. It has all the facilities you need: swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, laundry facility, breakfast and dinner options. Make sure you arrange your own wheels, so you are flexible to drive to the beach or whichever town/city you wishes to visit. We had a Deluxe Studio with jacuzzi, which was perfect for the two of us.

Dinner is absolutely great, Georgia cooks everything herself and it is all typical Cretan cuisine. We ate there nearly every evening and we were never disappointed. The beauty of eating at the estate is you get what Georgia cooks, food you normally probably will not order at a restaurant. This gives you the opportunity to taste different the different dishes of Crete.

We felt like we made a new friend and if we have the chance we will definitely pay Georgia a visit again. Thanks for taking such good care of us!

Room tip: Studio Deluxe has jacuzzi!

I stayed at Ktima Kares (Estate Kares) for 12 days with my girlfriend in the beginning of September. The estate is a very welcoming place for couples, families and small friend groups who want a more quiet and relaxing stay on Crete. It is strongly advised that you travel to this destination by car since it is located on a 5-10 minute off road drive, tucked away on a hill side with a beautiful view on the mountains where flocks of sheep graze between the many olive trees. Heraklion can be seen in the distance against the background of the sea.

On the estate grounds there are great facilities such as a swimming pool, playground (basketball, football, swings), laundry room and a sauna.

Apart from its central location, the surroundings and the facilities, the hospitality of Georgia, Emmanouil and the other staff members is definitively one of the most memorable aspects of our stay at Ktima Kares. With home cooked Greek meals being offered every night and great help for finding the gems of Crete we can highly recommend this place for your stay on the island.
