“We have seen over 30 productions”
Reviewed 20 April 2012

As Season ticket holders after the first two years we have been to about four or five plays a year....so about 8-9 years.

Now we are from the greater New York area so you can find small theaters in many places back east...with some of the best talent trying to get to NYC...The Lamb's Playhouse is a true gem...beter than everything else we know

I can say their choice of work ranges from High drama with a true moral purpose to very light comedy usually again with an intelligent message....

Their latest work "Brownie Points" is a small work about the different lives of five mothers in Georgia, including two black sisters one of whom is an MD.

Very creatively put together by the writer these women come from varied backgrounds with the mutual goal of seeing their daughters do well in private school....one is an attorney who doesn't practice...she as a troop leader tries too hard to make all the women contribute....unfortunately she is so naive she accepts a donated mansion for an outing in one of the worst areas of previous KKK activity...then the MD calls her racist for assigning the sisters KP duty...a hidden over reaction to her being pulled over by the local redneck sheriff just before arriving two hours late....The Jewess is understanding and a lot of dirt gets done before the truth be known....

The message was clear...no matter how much we try to forget the past...we have to forgive ourselves and our friends for the mistakes we all will surely continue to make...

There have been probably 7-8 plays that really moved me like this one and the players are very skilled in talking right to you....

This is about as intimate a playhouse as they come....maybe 250-300 seats in a semi-circle very close to the stage and players...yet they fit the "Music Man" in there and it was a blast....

Every work is approved by the Smyth's who are as gifted as they come as owners and players...we saw "1776" here and I learned a great deal I did not know....Their work makes you go home and look stuff up to confirm the author's opinion....That's truly a worthwhile evening....Enjoy!

“You can't go wrong with the Lamb's Players Theater”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

We have seen plays and musicals here w/friends and teenage and young adults. Every performance has been wonderful. The theater is small and intimate, the actors outstanding. You cannot go wrong here! Our latest was Guys n Dolls w/our 23 yrd old daughter. Outstanding performance---there are no bad seats in the house.

“Mix Tape”
Reviewed 26 March 2012

Mix Tape is a musical revue that spotlights the music of the 80's. Even though we are senior citizens, we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was upbeat, and the singers were excellent.

“Live Theatre for regular folk”
Reviewed 15 March 2012

I've seen maybe six shows over the years and enjoyed them all thoroughly. Usually the audiences are standing at the end, which is a very good sign of broad appeal. Now they have another space downtown in the Gaslamp, which is fun, but I love strolling to the theatre in relaxed charming Coronado.
