When we arrived at The Dell, they did not have a room for us, even though we had a voucher confirming a voucher a twin beeded room with full ocean view booked for us by our operator. Following discussions with the duty manager who must have been at least 17 years old, we were given a room with two beds with no view of the ocean with a promise of a change the following day. The desk clerk told us to look for the building with the green awning and take the lift to the 7 floor where our room would be in fact the awning was red and our room was on the ground floor. The following morning the changed front desk staff knew nothing or our intended change and our voucher had been lost. Following further discussions we were allocated a twin beeded room with full ocean room which was o k but never worth the cost. Meanwhile as we had been out for the day and had checked our luggage with the bell boy, the bell boy had mislaid it, finally I had to go to the bell station and identfy it myself which was a bit worrying as I could have walked off with anyone elses luggage. That evening we arrived at the Shearwater restaurent for evening meal where we had booked a table at breakfast but no table had been reserved for us. Following discussions with the manager a table was found for us. From then on we had problems with our account which could be viewed on the t v screen, initially we were charged $426 for telephone calls we never made, we were charged an extra $400 a night for the room even though our operator had paid for the room, a further $38 a night for breakfast which our operator had also paid for, and also for a meal which we had not had. Following many many heated discussions with the front desk they finally adjusted the account. When checking out the desk clerk confirmed our account was clear.
Three days after we had arrived back in the UK I discovered the hotel had taken $336 from my bank account unauthroised by myself. I have e mailed the hotel 3 times about this but they do have the courtesy to respond. My operator however has managed to obtain a statement and apprently this $336 is for telphoen calls that we never made, in fact some of these calls were made when we in the plan back to the UK however, to date The Dell is refusing to refund the money. The other calsl were made at times when I know we were out of our room.
The Hotel itself is lovely, the Ocean Towers room are o k but that is about all, the location is lovely the food is fine, the bar is overtaken by local dance groups and local people so much so that they imtimidate you to let them have your table. The oraganisation of the hotel is the worst I have ever experienced, so unless you want a break with hassel all the way from the time of arriving to the time of leaving DO NOT STAY AT THE DELL.
