“A second chance for HIE and for us”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

We were less that happy with our stay in August of last year, but we e-mailed the mangagement and were asked to give them another chance. it is a bit further from my Mom's when we visit her than when we stay in Riverside, but this time we gave them another chance. We arrived were early. The manager checked us in. Our room was not ready, but we were very early. He practically insisted that we take a "day use room" until our room was gotten readied. I was hesident, but accepted. it was not long, and we were into our assigned quarters. It was an upgraded room, as befitting our platinum status, when available. The room wrapped around the elevator, but we only heard something once that seemed to be coming from it! The manager did address our past stay problems, and a satisfactory resolution was made, without our asking. Fixing a problem is important. Problems will happen occasionally ANYWHERE you stay, how they are handled is the true measure of the right place to stay and the right people to have incharge. When I find his card, I will drop him a note saying so. Hopefully, he and the "bosses" will read it here.

It was like one of those Febreze commercials where they blindfold people, put them in a real dingy place, and ask them to say what they smell. I felt like if I was blindfolded, put into our room and asked what hotel I was at, other than the fact there was still a cathode TV vs flatscreen in the room, I might have said a Hilton! The room was very nicely appointed, the furniture was good quality - even the desk chair looked to be one of those higher-end mesh ones. I was very impressed. The room was very clean as well. Service was great. Virginia at the front desk was very helpful. Overall a very good stay and a pleasant surprise.

Room Tip: If you can, ask for one of the queen or king suites. They're a little bit bigger.

Everyone we encountered working there was very pleasant and helpful here. From the front desk to the maids they were all so friendly. Need an extra towel and toothbrush--no problem. Neighboring room was making too much noise and partying with friends across the hall at 2:30 am. I asked them to quiet down. When that didn't happen I called the front desk. They quickly came up and moved the offending parties to another part of the building. The pool and spa were small. Very adequate for my sore back to soak in the spa. The ventilation system is poor--that is my major complaint. The fan kept going on and off instead of just staying on and this disturbed all our sleep. Still it was a NO SMOKING property--hurrah! Good WIFI . Breakfast was ho-hum.

Room Tip: Back side away from freeway looks over trees.

It is rare to receive such a comprehensive review and we must say thank you. Your review has covered our achievements as well as areas of improvement. We're glad that our staff made you feel welcome and cared for- that is our main priority. We apologize for the ventilation problem that you encountered. Our system is interlocked with the external temperature and therefore operates on a cycle. Nevertheless we are sorry. Furthermore we have recently added our staff suggestions to the breakfast bar which provides several ways to make our breakfast much more exciting. We hope to wow you with our recipes during a future stay. Thank you again for your wise words, we appreciate them very much.

Had a great stay here at HIE.  The room and bathroom was clean and even has a private balcony.  There was no view but there was plenty of privacy as there was a hill next to the hotel building.  The room was next to the elevator but I didn't hear anything AT ALL. WIFI had very good strength which was great.

I didn't try the breakfast but it looked like the typical HIE breakfast (cinnamon bun, scrambled eggs, bacon, etc).  They also have an outside pool which looked nice. There's a Coco's restaurant right next door.  The only negative that I can think of was that one of the towels was not as white as the other ones and that I didn't get a welcome treat for being a priority club member.  Would definitely stay here again.

If you are in the area, checked an awesome East Indian restaurant called Mantra.

Pleasant & relaxing are two qualities that we always want our guests to enjoy when staying at our facility. We hope that next time you'll give our breakfast a chance and possibly enjoy a stack of our delicious pancakes. Furthermore, if the quality of our towels is not to your liking, we invite you to inform Guest Services and we would be happy to provide a fresh set for you. We care very deeply about all of our guests, especially our Priority Club members and want to ensure that we do our utmost to guarantee your comfort. We hope to see you soon!

We were thanked at the desk for our status, but no upgrade offered. We were told they were full and offered us 20 cents worth of water.
My brother stayed at the same time, checked in 45 minutes later (also booked a few days later that us), paid the same rate and got the full size suite! He only just joined the Priority Club when he reserved the room.
The hotel is non-smoking, but we were given room 223, a room that had been heavely smoked in and then "prefumed to death". I went back down and was given room 227. It was 2 queens in their small rooms with no micro, frig, etc.
The room was clean and in working order. Good thing as the maid stopped after making the beds and left, as the towels left in the tub for change out were still there. Only one kleenex remained in the box.

Walls here allowed the sound from both sides and above to "hammer in". People above us, our second night came in at 12:30 am, and in room 225 at 3:30 am... We had a very bad night second nights stay

We stay in a lot of HIE and found the room non-upgrade and poor house keeping in Corona unsatisfactory. Complaints were not addressed. Training at the desk position could be better.

View out our window was a slope, and we found that good, as one could leave the drapes open and only use the curtains.

Breakfast was the norm both mornings. Service items were a little behind the first morning, but we got there at 6:30 am and they had had a run. The second morning we were later, the occupancy seemed way down and the two attendants in the food service were falling all over us to make our breakfast as perfect as possible.

Parking was good both days. Plenty of USA Today's to go around. No other services used.

Room Tip: Book early and write a letter??? Or like my brother...get lucky
