This lake is in a perfect location,it's right before the major climb to Tahoe on interstate 80.Just make right off the freeway if your coming from the bay area at the Colfax sign and follow the sign's all the way to Rollins.Nice boat ramp should have 4x4 to launch boat's. Go the North, because the water is cooler and clean and it is peaceful up that way . A great lake one day or one season with your ski boat!

Have lived just up the street from the lake for 26 years. Beautiful camping. Over the years better features, Cleaner sites, store and day use area. Boating ramp A-1

The lake itself was beautiful! Our double lakeside camp site was not so great. Entire site was on a slope which made it scary with the kids. Had to hike down the hill to get to the water which is understandable with the lake level but still very unsafe. Water was a dirty brown several feet before it was blue. Nice fire pit & decent restrooms. Did not visit the showers. Campground supplied large trash bags & came by to collect garbage each day which was very nice. Water tap near our site was great. Went to the day use area and stayed about 5 minutes! Very dry, deserted, and not swimmer friendly. Store was very small & we had to leave & drive several miles to purchase our needs. Price was ok & employees were nice. Would definitely return to the lake but most likely not Peninsula Campground.

We love Rollins Lake, especially during the week when it's not busy. Weekends can be quite crowded on the water. From Citrus Heights, we can be on the water in an hour. The scenery around the lake is beautiful. The launch facilities are adequate. There's nowhere we'd rather be in the summer!

We spent the weekend at the "Camp Troop" group campsite with friends and family. This group site easily accommodated our group of about 40+ with several flat areas to set up our tents as well as parking and a picnic area with firepit. Much of this campsite is shaded, which is great when the weather is hot. It is located up the hill within walking distance to the lake and store/deli area. The nearest bathrooms are at the lake, but to take a shower, you either need to go to the boat launch area or up to the regular campgrounds, both of which are a little bit of a ways away (you buy tokens at the front desk - $1 each gives you 4 minutes). We liked the actual campground, but the caveat is there is NO WATER SPIGOT at this site. If you need to get water, you will need to go down the hill to the group site next door. The water spigots located at the store were turned off, so you cannot even wash your feet off after going to the beach. The desk told us that people would turn it on and not back off, so they cut off the water for everyone. Other than these little issues, we had a great time here - the lake has a nice beach area, and if you get hungry, there is a Beach Hut Deli located next to the store which makes awesome sandwiches. Would come here again
