My husband and I stayed for two nights in the Sky Way Cottage from June 12 - 14, 2014 for a short getaway. The decor is simple; the furniture and bed were comfortable. Everything was clean and presentable. We appreciated that it was within easy walking distance to the beach and downtown restaurants and stores, so driving wasn't a necessity.

The cottage is a great option if you are looking for an easy walk to the beach and a comfortable and quiet place to settle in for the night.

The most wonderful, romantic and charming place to stay in all of Carmel. Charming, cozy, comfortable, clean...didn't want to ever leave. The crash of the surf lulled me to sleep each night; the gas fireplace (remote controlled for ease) kept me warm during the chill of night. Cottage owner Cheryl Assemi spared no expense in renovating and redecorating the five cottages (each with their own charm) last year with Renovation Hardware furniture pieces to hand-sewn bed quilts. A bottle of sparkling cider welcomes each new guest at check-in and the varied selection of Tazo teas (thank you from a non-coffee drinker!) and local coffees in the kitchen is the perfect way to start your day in Carmel.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Home Stead cottage (sleeps 4); would stay there again in a heartbeat. All five cottages are one block up from the beach, which makes it the perfect place to stay, and just a few blocks up (Uphill) from the main part of town. Beautiful landscaped property with backyard chairs/seating area for reading a book in the sunshine.

By husband and I just recently got married in Carmel and have been there a few times looking for places to stay for our wedding weekend. We checked out a number of little hotels in the Carmel-by-the-sea area, all quaint and cute, but when we found these cottages we fell in love.

Cheryl, the owner, is so helpful and sweet. We stayed in the Moon Gate cottage and my parents rented the Log Haven cottage. They are in a perfect location, just a couple blocks from Ocean Ave and from the beach.

For almost the same prices as some of the nicer hotels you have your own living room, kitchen, patio, etc. The gardens are immaculate - we loved sitting outside in the morning having coffee.

We are already planning our return next year for our 1 yr anniversary. If you're looking for a relaxing, beautiful rental for a nice weekend in Carmel we highly recommend the cottages!
