The location of the hotel is great, right at the center of the town, near all sorts of shops, walking distance to Carmel beach. The hotel has a very elegant lobby, old fashion but unique. However, the hotel has no air condition. First night, we stayed in the suite near Monte Verde, the room was spacious with a very impressive updated bathroom, however, the room was so hot, we had to open the windows ... next morning, we had to wake up at 6am because there was construction near the road ... The 2nd night, we moved to a different suite, the bathroom was so outdated, again the garbage truck woke us up around 7... Also, the hotel has lots of stairs with no elevator. We paid for more than $400 per night, what a rip off!

A great historical hotel!. Perfect location with adjacent parking (albeit limited). Clean and fun. Good value for Carmel. (Admittedly, that's a low bar). Front desk could have been a little friendlier, but everyone else was helpful and nice. Nice to have restaurant on site, although there are better places in Carmel for dinner. Will always go back.

Such a great place. It is our first phone call to make a reservation in Carmel! We are returning in September. Can't wait! The location is superb. You are steps away from the ocean and the greatest selection of shops and restaurants. I would recommend to everyone!!

The Inn is more than a hundred years old and shows its age elegantlly and marvelously well. If you are willing to climb the stairs, there are rooms with geat views of the ocean. The open-to-the-public restaurant is excellent and the service superb.

location, location. Walking to all nice caramel shops and restaurants. Decoration and furnishing is antique, my 3 year old thought this is a kings castle :) Although room is a bit dated, it is clean and comfortable enough. No breakfast on weekend:(
