Bill's latest and supposedly his last restaurant is excellent. Nice menu based on his long term favorites. In particular, try the fried chicken, it is excellent.

The past owner of some of our favorite restaurants in the Carmel area (Billy Quon's, Bahama Billy's, Bixby's and Volcano Grill) has returned with yet another winner called Sur, located in the Barnyard (at the mouth of Carmel Valley on Highway One) where Bixby's once was. It was great seeing Bill and his wife Teresa back at the helm of this beautiful restaurant - great decor, lovely staff and delicious choices on the menu! My husband and I stopped by in the afternoon for a cocktail and a bite to eat. The tasty grilled cauliflower had a spicy Balsamic vinegar marinade and was topped with pine nuts, golden raisins and shaved Parmesan. It was a perfect match for our well crafted drinks! We then decided to return later than night for the full treatment - a wonderful Wedge salad that could have been a meal in itself, with their delicious bacon, slices of avocado, and more. I indulged in Billy's famous version of garlic bread, with cheese and corn in the recipe. It is offered with the amazing bacon for a truly indulgent appetizer! I had grilled salmon and my husband had tuna - both cooked to perfection. There were so many delicious sounding offerings on the menu - a Portabella Seafood Bake which sounded great, Prime Rib sliders, and a version of Chicken and Waffles that a nearby visitor raved about! The waiter was very attentive and guided us to try a new wine, Chock Rock Chardonnay, which was from a nearby winery and was very tasty. Billy treated us and nearby tables to a sweet treat for desert, some chocolates which came on a floating ice dish with dry ice foaming around. Very fun! The ambiance is great and there is a nice outdoor area which overlooks the beautiful Barnyard gardens. It's a winner!!

We've always enjoyed the various Billy Quon properties over the years. Sur, his newest, is a pleasant bar/restaurant located in the Barnyard, just off Highway 1 at Carmel Valley Road. Two friends and I met there for a very late lunch and was able to enjoy Sur's happy hour menu. We were immediately welcomed and seated. The food was what one has come to expect, fresh, tasty and a delight to the taste. The service was equally great. Managing to get there during a shift change our server made certain to come over to introduce his replacement to us. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a late lunch to go in and try their Happy Hour menu - which offers a great selection of food, enough to easily share among friends or family. The cheese bread - something I missed since the days of Bahama Billy's was as good as I remembered. The three of us shared the cheese bread, calamari strips, tempura artichoke hearts and quite possibly the best string beans ever. I can't wait to go back for dinner.

This is a new restaurant (Spring 2016) in the Barnyard and we enjoyed our lunch at it a few days ago. First the decor is really unique and well done. Dining outside is nice under heat lamps on cooler days. For lunch I had the Curried Chicken Slider without bread done lettuce-wrap style. My husband had the Prime Rib Slider Lunch Combo, both 10.50. Both combo's came with a cup of soup and fresh fruit. We'll definitely return for dinner here as that dinner-menu looks very interesting too.

Visited Sur shortly after it had opened. Ate outside in a very pretty courtyard setting. Food and service were excellent. Good menu with lots of choice and brilliant fish dishes. So good that we ate there a second evening - something we do not normally do. We were made to feel very welcome.
