We (group of 3 couples) landed at Paro on 18th Oct. 2017 on our 7 day trip to Bhutan. Unlike usual itinerary for all visitors to Bhutan who have their last destination as Paro, our was a reverse route being first destination at Paro followed by Punakha and Thimpu.
We reached Kichu Resort at Paro in the morning around 9 AM driving straight from Paro Airport observing Nature's beauty on our way.
Our travel plan included 3 nights stay at this resort. As we entered the resort campus, we noticed beautiful Paro river flowing adjacent to the resort and we were really excited.
As we got down of our vehicle, we were very warmly welcomed by Front office staff who offered us much needed Indian Tea (we spent most part of previous night on flight and then at Kolkata Airport) which was very perfect in taste. We were early for the normal check-in hours however house keeping staff did their job very efficiently and provided us proper cottages within an hour or so.
During this time when we were having tea, Mr. Subba of the resort interacted with us. We had planned to visit places in Bhutan largely on our own which we shared with him and requested for his suggestions. Initially he was reluctant may be considering that our driver may not like this however later he opened up and provided some very useful suggestions / tips to include (and also to exclude) few places especially in Punakha. He suggested us to include a hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten at Punakha which was a very worthy suggestion. We sincerely compliment him for this and all other guidance provided by him during our stay at Kichu Resort, Paro.
We were pleasantly surprised on the next day morning during breakfast when Mr. Sonam from Front Office approached us and informed us that we will be upgraded to the superior cottage for next two days. These cottages was of course larger with better amenities and that made our stay more happier.
Breakfast and dinner served at the resort restaurant was also very good in terms of taste and variety.
Coming back to the resort, the cottages were really very clean, with all necessary amenities provided there. Within resort there is very good garden, lawn, trees, plants and greenery and walk-way all around the resort. Resort is surrounded by Paro river and mountains - all these was very scenic. On the riverside within campus there are sit out facilities - benches, huts etc. There are steps through which we can touch and feel flow of the flowing water of the river. We experienced all these at different times of the day - early morning and also in the evening and really enjoyed a lot. In the evening we also observed birds flying near the banks of the river. The days we stayed at the resort were the days of festival of Diwali followed by Gujarati New Year and we felt that this time spent at the resort was God's blessings to us.
No wonder, why leading travel companies from India have selected this in their tour plan for their guests.
We sincerely compliment Mr. Subba, Mr. Sonam and all the members of resort team for making our stay pleasant and memorable.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience for us at Kichu Reort, Paro. We highly recommend all visitors to consider this at Paro.
