The location of Kichu resort is by the beautiful Paro river. The resort is very spacious and you can see a variety of beautiful birds here. A pair of Hoopoe used to visit us daily outside our room.
The service here was poor. To begin with there was no one at the reception most of the time. The restaurant did not follow the time for breakfast. There is no room service. Nature lovers will love to stay here but you need to be prepared for poor to no service.

We stayed there for 2 nights and spent both the nights in two different rooms. From the first glimpse to the last this resort was no less than a natural paradise. I would recommend this as a perfect shoot location for film makers too. Yes, we did lot of photography in this huge property. Set amidst lush green garden, adjacent to swiftly flowing Paro river the entire scenic beauty makes this a surreal destination. Staff was too courteous and concerned about their natural resources. As they handed over the keys they reminded us to switch off the lights, geyser, when not in use which actually is very important. The food was typically north Indian flavored. Overall a very good experience. One can stay here without giving any second thought.

The resort was located at a convenient location. The resort is built on a large area, full of green trees and full of hill doves on them. The reception is very nicely decorated. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped with all modern amenities one can think of. The toilets are big and had a bath tub. A wide range of delicious dishes is available in the restaurant. The resort provides bar counter, spa facilities and free Wi-Fi. The scenic view from the resort was lovely. The Paro river flows next to the resort. The resort provides you with a comforting stay at Paro.

I had booked this hotel as I saw good reviews, a good lawn with trees, the river flowing by. Most of this is true. The rooms are equally good too. What you dont see if the pathetic restaurant and food quality. First of all, the restaurant is not well planned. Its on the second floor but the washrooms are on the first. Food is expensive and mostly unpalatable. Restaurant service is pathetic. For example we asked for water and was served with glasses and jug that was half filled. So when it emptied we requested that it be refilled and took nearly 20-25 mins for that to happen. Most of the time any request to one person seem to travel an entire chain of command before any action took place.
The surrounding to the cottages are well kept except quite a number of dogs roaming the place. Not sure if they are domesticated, but always a bother if you have small kids and plan to use the lawn as a play ground.
The front desk has a display that shows all the major currencies and conversation rates, but does not have a credit card machine and deals only in cash (in this day and age). Also would not accept Indian currency (which is most accepted in other hotels in Bhutan) , but I think would be more agreeable to US$ or UKP.
Overall good rooms, and thats it.

Very good semi -detached cottages near the river. Very good ambience. Good food to suit our requirements ( pre-requested menu) and very hospitable staff and accommodative staff. Provided us with packed breakfast due to 7.00 am departure to the airport.

Room tip: The cottages near the river may be nosier at night due the sound of the river.
