Come here around 5-6pm and it's pretty open! Got my favorite pilgrim's progress and was out the door in less then 10 minutes. Tons of parking too.

Erik's Deli is has great sandwiches and fresh salads. The place is fine for a quick stop to get a bite to eat, since it is designed as a small cafe or diner. So nothing fancy. The prices seemed to be average as it was about $6 for a sandwich. Recommended for pit stops or to go, but not a long sit down meal.

This place almost lulls you into thinking that it's a mom-and-pop shop, with their super-friendly staff, the weird stuff on the walls, homey looking sides displayed in a case and covered in plastic wrap, the canning jars used as cups, the dark wood paneling and pot-belly stove. But it's actually a northern CA chain. It also tries to lull you into thinking that it's more healthy for you than other sandwich shops. It is most definitely fresher, and I think tastier, than the others out there...but if you check out the nutritional info on their web site, you'll see it's not entirely "healthy" (I think it's all in that delicious Goo they put on all their sandwiches). But....I forgive them for all that.

I mourned the loss of the Widow Bennett sandwich -- a melty, gooey mess on pumpernickel bread that was so delish. Now, I almost exclusively go for the Del Monte Special. Here's a hint for you all: the folks who work here are used to (and in a strange way seem to almost expect) sandwich "customizations" -- hold the onions, extra Goo, a substitute bread. I absolutely hate sprouts, so always substitute lettuce for them (sprouts seem to go standard on every sandwich).

Erik's is a great place to get a good, fresh-made sandwich that tastes more like homemade than you'll get at any other chain shop.
