If your looking for a place to stay that is within walking distance of the main street thru Calistoga, Chien Blanc is at a great location. We stayed in the Bateau Bungalow. It is a small unit on the end of three. It is not like a usual hotel room, it is a small house which appears to have been built in the 40's or 50's. There is a living room with a TV and fireplace. The kitchen is small and has older appliances but works just as well, full sized fridge and all the kitchen utensils you could need (including wine glasses :) ). To the left is the bedroom with a comfortable queen sized bed. The unit’s air conditioner it attached to the bedroom window. It is old and noisy but puts out cool air. Down the little hallway is the bathroom and dressing mirror. The bathroom could use a remodel. Outside and down the way is a game room with a pool table and many interesting books. There are also a few outdoor sitting areas where you can enjoy a bottle of wine (if the neighbors down the street do not have their music on). Overall, this property suited us for our short stay. We were not in our room much. We had a great dinner while listening to live jazz and a wonderful breakfast at Sarafornia. A definite must.
