I have been on the cave tour and raring many times but never the cheese pairing option.

The cave tour is impressive along with the story of the history of the property. You’ll spend 15-20 minutes walking through the caves and seeing the literally millions of bottles that are stored. You’ll also learn about the process to make sparking wine including the riddling process.

We then sat down to 5 wines with cheeses and other small items to try the wines with and experience how the flavors change with what your are eating. There is no better sparkling wine in the valley.

We really enjoyed our Tour and Tasting at Schramsberg. Reservations are needed and you can choose between a mix of the Schramsberg and Davies wines or only Schramsberg sparkling wines. There is also a wine and cheese pairing option. We did the sparkling only tasting. The tour itself was very interesting learning about the painstaking process that creates these sparkling wines. It was also fun to walk through the caves, see the bottles stacked and in riddling racks. At the tasting we were given 6 sparkling wines - none of which are readily available to us at home. I am already a club member and have or will receive our favorites from the tasting so we did not purchase any wines. The club membership is very reasonable and over a year's time you get 3- 2 bottle shipments and 1- 4 bottle shipment in December. Schramsberg is also a pretty drive to the winery itself! A fun experience.

My husband and I first visited Schramsberg in 2014 during our inaugural Napa trip. We recently returned to the region with a number of friends (two other couples), and we brought them back to experience the story, the history and the learning. This was the only winery that we have ever revisited and it is certainly worth it. Candidly, I am not that much of a champagne/sparkling wine fan. That said, the offerings are lovely and the visit was certainly worth the time. Our whole group absolutely loved learning about a completely different process of wine making than what you see in any other Napa winery. Plus Brittany - our guide - was compelling, knowledgeable, humorous and warm. Definitely worth fitting into the schedule to see something completely different.

Outstanding winery, actual club member...
Enjoy the amenities and the employees who provide outstanding service.
Their sparkling wines are great. They have several clubs that assist in developing your experience and enjoyment of the wines of this area.

With all the vineyards our group have been to in many different countries, we have gotten to point where we just want to do the tastings! At Schramsberg you have to take the tour and I am glad we did. Check out the wall of pictures and see all the Sparkling wine they have provided to the White House for state dinners! Tom was our host and his knowledge was fantastic about the vineyard and how champagne is made ( pardon France) SPARKLING WINES! LOL. We did the all sparkling wine tasting and this was the least expensive of all our vists this holiday weekend at $95 per person. Not cheap but worth it when you add the tour he gave and what we learned about the process of producing sparkling wine. We tasted 5 different sparkling wines, all wonderful. If you want an education and taste some excellent Sparking wines, do stop here.

In short, I’ll never give this place a dime of my money ever again. We did the $125/person tour. The wine, food pairings and tour guide were all amazing. The part that made our trip a never again was the owner. When we arrived at the parking lot, a truck was stopped, then suddenly started backing up all while not in a spot. My husband veered around as the truck was about a foot away from hitting us. The driver then yelled obscenities and blamed us for driving erratically...we pulled into a lot slowly and he clearly didn’t see us. He yelled about how we should be patient...patient for him to hit our car?!?! Turns out, he’s the owner. We saw his picture on the wall when we did our tour. We were prepared to buy a couple cases of wine, but instead we will happily spend our money at one of the other thousands of wineries in the area. Thanks for the warm welcome, Hugh. Hope you’re nicer to your staff than you were to your customers.

This winery is by appointment only and worth the trip. The cave is narrow and there is A Lot of mildew but it’s a very cool educational tour. We visited with a group, our tour guide was a little “dry” but we brought the fun!!

This was one of my favorite places to visit in Napa. Fascinating to see how fine sparking wines are made in the old fashioned way. This is the vineyard that supplies “champagne“ to the White House during official state visits. Pay a few dollars more for the deluxe tour. It’s worth it since you get to sample very expensive bottles of California Champagne. And yes, you will see that there is a huge difference between a $20 bottle of sparkling wine and a $200 bottle!
