We stayed here over the winter holidays, as a short get away from the city. The hotel is conveniently located near the Birdwalk Coastal Access Trail, and a few yards away from a strip mall with a few casual eateries. A car is recommended, and parking is free. The staff are friendly and helpful. Most rooms have nice views of the bay--sunsets are gorgeous! The room itself has high ceilings, fridge, microwave, coffee maker--good basics, since there aren't many shops in the area. There was also a hot tub on the grounds, and was heated even during the winter months. Downsides were that the room seemed old and in need of updates. We had trouble with the toilet flushing completely, and it kept draining on a few occasions (but a call to the front desk led to prompt attention). The tub seemed stained and/or dirty, fixtures seemed to have not been updated since the 70s or 80s, but did work. Corners of the hotel had a lot of dust, which aggravated allergies, linens were clean, but some towels were threadbare. Breakfast was simple. I think this used to be a Best Western, and the breakfast was about what you'd get at one (pastries, make it yourself toast, make it yourself waffle, packets of oatmeal, dry cereal). All things aside, I would return if the price were lower (We paid upwards of $200/night, but perhaps we went during high season).
