The staff went out of their way to make it a perfect 10. Only a few minor issues, such as extra conditioner and no shampoo, outlet in the bathroom not working, room not serviced until late in the afternoon. Nothing a problem for too long, as the staff rectified all of these problems right away. They were very busy over this 3-day weekend, and perhaps a little understaffed. Had slow service a few times in the Linewood Cafe for dinner, Meritage for Sunday brunch, and the Lounge for afternoon tea, seemed understaffed, but no complaints about the actual servers. ALL of the staff was very polite and efficient whenever we requested anything. We especially enjoyed the complimentary spa pass. We will definitely stay at the Claremont Hotel again.

Room Tip: The bay view and san francisco skyline view is definitely worth it.

Hotel grounds and common areas are fantastic. Room was elegant and updated with lots of character. The room was spacious and beautiful. I will be back to stay longer in order to enjoy all the amenities the hotel has to offer...especially the spa.

Great overall! Clean rooms, nice gym facilities, friendly staff, yummy food & wine...will definitely stay again for business or pleasure. Good location with access to many businesses. Was referred by a friend and will refer friends in the future!

I waited for my 3rd visit to add a review. This hotel is a part of Bay Area history and someplace everyone should visit. The exterior harkens back to the hotel’s original days of grandeur. The interiors have been refurbished and look like new upon arrival. Take a walk around the property at night - you’ll be impressed with the tennis courts and pools that look even more impressive under the lights. Turn around and look up at the well lit hotel and I promise you’ll pause and stare for a few moments. If you’re like me, you’ll be reminded that there’s a lot of history here!

Back inside, you’ll certainly feel like you’re in a luxury hotel. However, you may get frustrated with a few things. In the main lobby bar, you can’t get food. Or, at least it wasn’t offered. They’ll send you to one of the two hotel restaurants. Likewise, if you care to sit in one of the bars - they’re really more like lounges: less about drinking and more about lounging - late at night to enjoy a view of the grounds, you can’t order a cup of coffee. Again, they’ll send you to the restaurant for that. Not a big deal, but It doesn’t make a lot of sense.

The restaurants are good but not great. All of my meals have been just ok. Nothing really memorable. And, breakfast can be downright expensive. $14 for a bowl of oatmeal is a bit much!! If you’re looking to grab something quick, be prepared to slow down. The breakfast “to-go” station is hampered by a very slow cash register that turns buying a cup of coffee into a 10 minute ordeal. If you find a line at the counter, come back another time because you’re gonna be stuck for a while. Again, though, this is a minor complaint.

The rooms are comfortable. A good amount of very clean space. There’s not a comfortable chair for lounging, but the bed’s great for sleeping. Oh, and one thing to think about. This hotel is long rumored to be haunted. During my last stay, all the lights in my room came on twice during the middle of the night. And, I didn’t turn them on. Weird, huh?

Overall, this is a place everyone should visit.

Great hotel, wonderful views very relaxing. Restaurant is very nice, great happy hour specials and a very nice menu selection. Views of the bay area are breathtaking and the prices of dining as well as a hotel stay quite reasonable.
