It was early evening. We ventured from our hotel at the Berkeley Marina to a nearby Trader Joe's looking for food and wine. We didn't find food for dinner, but on short drive back spotted this hole-in-the-wall spot on the lower end of University Avenue advertising gyros, falafels, and other kinds of sandwiches or wraps. We stopped to take a look. One person was leaving as we arrived, but the place was otherwise empty. A surprise in light of the great smells. Modest spot, modest prices. We ordered several items, including two kinds of gyros and an order of spanakopita, along with some humus & pita. The food was excellent. Flavors blended well, spices nicely done, even after transport back down to the marina and a delay while we enjoyed a glass of wine. We're booked for dinners for our next two nights, and regret not having a chance for another round at Wrap N Roll.

We were passing through Berkeley, coming from The City, and wanted a quick bite to eat. This diner, located directly on University Avenue, was a real find! The owner was a friendly man from India, who welcomed us heartily. The menu offered gyros, wraps, and falafel, plus burgers and sandwiches. My cheeseburger and fries were made the old-fashioned way, as in the 1950's! They were delicious and filling! We parked (on a weekday) across the street at a meter, but noticed in the restaurant a sign saying, "Parking in the back." This restaurant is a gem! Highly recommended!
