I found the restaurant since it is just across my hotel. Small but beautiful. The food, especially the lamb, is excellent..tender and tasty. The location is a bit far from the main Berkeley city..but if you stay or pass by this area, definitely this is a good choice.

We walked in this place after reading good reviews and realized we had been there before. It's a hole in the wall and, at 8:00 p.m. on a Friday night, there were only two other people there. Either people in Berkeley eat real late or they haven't figured this place out. But then, we'd been there before and forgotten about it. (We won't forget again.) We started with the Bodinjon Borani (?) - eggplant with a spicy sauce and topped with yogurt. It was a taste explosion. Entrees: We had the Quabili Pallow - a lamb shank with rice, raisins, and carrots and mild spices. Perfectly cooked lamb and a nice combination of flavors and textures. We had the Mantoo (that's how they spelled it on the menu but online it's Mantu) - pasta filled with ground beef, onion and spices. Everything came with an Afghan bread, which had a nice rosemary thing going on. Very nice folks. Great service. We'll come back next time we're in Berkeley.

The restaurant was the closest to where we were staying. It's very small (5 tables) but was packed soon after we were seated. Great food. Ice wasn't available the day we went.
