“Finally got to try The Village Fish & Chips”

We had tried unsuccessfully to eat at The Village Fish & Chips, as their somewhat odd hours had seen this restaurant closed when we have tried before. Housed in an old house just off the main street of Waterdown, it has a bit of history in this town! The couple who (owns and) runs the shop are very nice, welcoming us as their only customers mid afternoon on a Saturday. Another couple came in after us. We ordered the haddock and chips and were quite disappointed with the taste. The fish, batter and french fries were bland and flavourless. I so wanted to love this place, but sadly, I did not.

So we decided to have Fish and Chips from the place we loved as kids. I am still very pleased with the quality, quantity and the price is on par with other fish and chip places. The gentlemen behind the counter were great to talk to even tho they were quite busy they still took the time to talk with us as we waited for are "Take Out" order. By only complaint is that they really should get interact as the days of "cash only" should be gone. Either way I am sure I will go back!

Went in and did not realize they only took cash. Thank goodness the RBC was a block away. Placed my order and came back to pay. Food was OK nothing special. Not sure I would go back.

If you like small portions, 1970's decor, overpricing and cash only sales this is the place for you. Typically they cater to the geriatric crowd and this group keeps the place in business. The fish & chips is just average really. If you want a more generous portion and much better fish & chips try the Royal Coachman next door-you'll never visit The Village again.

The Fish and Chips are fresh and hot when served! The fries are home cut and taste amazing. Good value for money - you will pay more elsewhere.
Offers: Halibut, Haddock, Cod, Basa, Pollock
There is variety on the menu if you have someone in your group who won't or can't eat fish - burgers (patties also made in house), chicken fingers, grilled cheese, western sandwiches, etc.
Soups are all good and full of beef or chicken and vegetables, good value.
Wine and Beer - good selection, good price.
Staff are knowledgeable about products and assisted with menu choices.
Neil, the owner will be out chatting when he can.
We have been here many times over the years, friendly ambiance, it's nice to be somewhere where they recognize "the regulars" and to get that extra bit of attention.
