We walked from Achmelvich to the ruined mill and back - great walk. Beach is gorgeous white sand backed by cliffs - people were looking out to sea in the hope of seeing a dolphin, whale or two. Really beautiful.

The weather in the 1st week of October was simply stunning -wall to wall sunshine. Sandwood Bay is fantastic but I think Achmelvich is better because it has more on offer. The beach is superb - Caribbean quality. The rocks are a lovely distraction from sunbathing and swimming. The hermits castle is well worth a look even if it is only to speculate why the architect from down south spent six months designing and building it and only spending a night in it.
The youth hostel is good. The Rangers Hut is packed with information and worth consulting. Visit this beach. You know you want to. Probably the best beer oops beach in Scotland!

Absolutely beautiful part of Scotland, beaches are stunning. Stayed in youth hostel and would recommend staying there well worth a visit.

Good car park and a lovely walk over the top of the cliffs to a couple of quiet small beaches in coves. A lovely walk on a sunny day (it was raining as we started walking but as the sun came out this was a lovely location and walk).
