I begrudge this review as I fear that if this beautiful accommodation may become fully booked when we require a weekend away!!! But seriously, I don't think that this very hard working couple need a thumbs up on Trip Advisor because I'm certain that the vast majority who stay here will have intended to rebook.
After reading (very few) poor reviews, I was prepared to
1. Barge into someone's house
2. Expect to pay for orange juice
3. Lose my hearing for the sound of children at school
4. To be ignored by the owners
5. Bitten by dogs
6. See a silly cat
7. To never wash my hair for the lack of shampoo
8. Be disgusted at the worn out furniture
My Answer: THESE POORLY RESEARCHED PEOPLE NEED TO STAY HOME AND GET A LIFE BECAUSE THESE INFLAMMATORY STATEMENTS WERE NOT TRUE!!!!
In fairness, I imagine critics of this accommodation must have a expected large scale hotel. It can be the only reason. We were very unsure as to whether the owners in fact live on the premises and did not get the impression that we were encroaching on their territory at any time.
Breakfast is well presented with a vast choice of items that were suited to the temperature and clientele. The accommodation attracts an array of Europeans so if you're expecting a "fry up" and could get seriously upset at the lack of British pubs and burger bars, don't even bother booking Ca'n Roses and don't go to Soller. We were offered both apple and orange juice at no additional charge.
Children screaming? Yes, the school is nearby. We were on a 3 night "together time" break and didn't mind the sound of children playing and having fun. We are neither child lovers or haters so we thought it was odd of people to complain about this.
This place is stunningly beautiful. The owners care about design and presentation, your overall experience without coming across as nosy or obtrusive and run a quiet considered small holding that offers super easy access to Soller Town Square. Though small, we felt looked after and were happy that we hadn't chosen an airport style hotel more commonly found at the port. EVERY corner of this place has been carefully thought out. They are art lovers who are passionate about creative individuality. It would be insulting to remark upon worn out furniture as their aim is to give the impression that it has always been there. If you're into cheap laminate flooring, generic hotel furniture, crowds around the pool and buffet dinner stampede I would suggest looking elsewhere. I was open mouthed when we entered the place. Upon arrival Anna made us a cup of tea and welcomed us immediately. We sat down on some beautiful lounge furniture and took in the view of artwork and majorcan architecture. There is no formal reception desk, no passport check, no credit card style key and no bed turn down service THANK GOD!!!!
Our private open plan accommodation was designed to a high standard complete with bathroom featuring an Alessi sink, separate shower in addition to a double sized bath and lined in granite. We have since remarked on how much we miss lying in bed looking out on to the mountains and palm trees from our picture window. We intend to have this photograph looking from our bed printed and hung in our bedroom!
There isn't regular bar service but the owners are trusting enough to let you help yourself to the stocked beer and wine fridge and write down what you take. What more could you ask for?
We were given some pointers on where to eat and they were more than happy to order a taxi for us at any time.
The two dogs are silly dogs who are house trained and friendly. They don't bark and they don't bother you. I am not a doggy person but found my self getting quite attached to a golden retriever.
One critique about a silly cat made me laugh. Meowing Puss quite often sat on out private sun lounger at about 8pm while we'd get ready to go out and again, made no impact on our holiday,
Sure, toiletries could have been a bit more luxe. They're a bit "thin" and not replenished. The the soap is a bit rubbish so I would suggest that you bring some with you. Its no big deal though. But I should add that if I cared that much, I would have asked for more and I'm sure that a new batch of toiletries would have been delivered within minutes.
Yes, its quite expensive with our room priced at 230 Euros B&B but very quickly, you are reminded of why. The fixtures and fittings, constant garden maintenance and general upkeep for such a small capacity abode needs to be paid for. The price also keeps the stag/hen crowd away.
We are considering our honeymoon here. Not to Cuba, The Seychelles, Antigua, Mexico, Bali or the Maldives etc. We both agreed that we couldn't have asked for a more romantic setting. Our pictures say the rest.......... see you again soon. x
