We wanted to visit but accidentally found this on a drive around. What an amazing place. It was great seeing boiling springs and, of course, the geyser. You don't have to wait long to see an eruption of water, we watched it go about 5 times! If you have young kids or dogs, make sure you keep hold of them because the fencing around the hot spots is minimal. Free to get in and wander the trails. We walked around the trail, but you don't have to as the geyser is easy to reach from the road side.

Now, I'm absolutely certain there is a Geyser in Andernach. The history is authentic, and I don't doubt it's presence at all. However, the Andernach 'experience' (for Euros 15) concludes with a boat trip from Andernach, to the site of the Geyser, where, very conveniently, the geyser 'blows' shortly after your arrival, and ceases about 10 minutes before your boat departs to go back. In the visitor centre, you are encouraged to go in the lift 'Down 4,000 metres towards the centre of the earth'. In fact, you go up, just one floor. It is, of course, a 'virtual' journey, and I'm wondering how much else is virtual about this 'experience'.

So, you'll pay your money, and decide for yourself. At 30 Euros for the two of us, we felt a bit 'conned'. You may well feel differently, as this attraction appears to get better reviews than mine is.

Visited this attraction today having read about it in rhine book. The visitor centre in the town is very informative and interactive with captions in English. It took us a good 90 mins to go all round It also has a nice cafe selling drinks croissants and cakes. You then take a 20 min boat trip doen the Rhine to the site and the a coupleof minutes walk to the geyser. The trips are 3 times a day. The interesting thing about this geyser is that it is cold water rather than hot as in other parts of the world I have been. It spurts up very high and for a prolonged time. Good opportunity for photos. The boat has a selection of foof and drink

Totally enjoyed the Rhine River Ferry to the Andernach Geysir. They also have a very interesting museum on site that explains the history and the science behind how the geysir works. You can spend a whole day relaxing here, especially if the weather is beautiful and warm, which it was for us. The tour guide was very friendly. This place is a fun day for a family with young children.

The ferry trip is very short in terms of distance but the company makes it feel longer by chugging slowly along the Rhein and trying to make it seem like a mini Rhein boat trip. The cold water geyser shoots many metres into the air and is interesting because it is unusual.
The accompanying museum, housed in the building where you buy tickets is well thought out and there were a number of children who were really enjoying the exhibits which were well thought out and informative.
