A wonderful experience of walking through the narrow Ghats of Pushkar lake..lots and lots of shadu &brahmin who try to make puja (pushkar passport)many of the visitors are foreigners..Be cautious in purchase as the rates are very high and aimed at the tourists.

Pushkar lake is a natural lake right in the middle of Pushkar town and has a mythological and religious significance for the Indians.
Lake is dotted with bathing ghats on all sides with beautiful Aravalli hills rising in the backdrop. The area itself is very tranquil and one can experience sheer bliss and peace just sitting around the lake.
However, there are a series of big stairs that one needs to descend to reach the bathing ghat closer to the lake and it might be an arduous task for the elderly and people with joint pains. One needs to take off their shoes/slippers on the ghats and do not expect any boating on the lake as it is not allowed.
The area outside the lake precincts is lined with the local market with shops selling beautiful handicrafts, souvenirs and clothes worth buying with good bargains.

You can also get a nice view of the rising and setting sun behind the hills overlooking the lake if you stay at one of hotel properties that lie around the lake.

The best time to visit Pushkar is in the months of November to March as that is the winter season and for the rest of the months it remains pretty hot.

Pushkar is a quaint place ,pretty lake and surroundings.good shopping options to buy local handicrafts.be sure to check out a few shops before finalising. We bought a few sarees and t-shirts only to realise that better and cheaper options were available in the nearby shops!!
If anything beware of the pandas near the lake, they start off with a pooja service of only 11 RS and once hooked the pundit plays on the innocent tourist and exhorts upro 2000 RS.each time our group members said they only wanted to pay 11 RS and no mirethe pundit would say that if the pooja is left halfdone or stopped in between, bad luck would follow. Thus forcing the unwilling ,unhappy friends of mine to part with their money.all travellers beware!!!!
