“Homely yet professional”

The Ivy Suites is not quite what one might expect. Its not a conventional hotel or a serviced apartment. Its more like a guest house. But it combines a homely ambience with a hotel's professionalism. At Rs 4100/night, we got a fabulously spacious air conditioned room with an amazing view of the Bhopal Lake. The room was very comfortable. The food however, is quite restrictive. Since it is not a hotel, there really is not a selection to choose from. Breakfast was complementary and we had a choice of bread and eggs & Indian options. Lunch was pretty much like eating at home. Low on oil, nourishing and great on taste. However, at Rs 300/head, it is also very steep for the lack of options.

I would recommend this for someone looking for a comfortable stay but not expecting any of the frills of a hotel stay.

Alas, I was on a business trip and alone!

The room offers such fantastic view of the lake and in the evenings there was someone strumming a guitar - that was romantic!

the evenings and the mornings are very pleasant and it is different feeling to get up in such a cool and calm atmosphere.

Coming to the place per se - It is a nice way to stay in a city rather than a traditional hotel room. The rooms are huge, clean with all normal facilities one might expect. The food is homely, tasty and you can ask for your favourite dishes! No need to look in the menu and select from the standard so called punjabi vegetables! The people are eager to help you and serve you to extend that you might feel like a pampered guest.

The breakfast and food is served on a common table where you meet many others and if you are a friendly, talkative person - you will end up with lot of acquaintances.

The place has hundreds of books - i wish i can come back and stay just to read them.

It would be advisable to have mosquito repellent cream ( obviosuly - there is so much of water and trees around). They provide repellent - but I am allergic to those.

Overall a great experience and I would not mind coming back and staying here - hopefully with my wife also in tow!

This guest house is a wonderful find and we will most definitely be going back for a return visit. We received a very warm welcome from the Hosts and they were very forthcoming with local information. I was fortunate to go shopping with Manju quite often and saw more of the area than I would normally have done.
The food was absolutely wonderful and at all times the service was first class. We are looking forward to our return visit.

There were only very few guests so we got the penthouse room with terrace with great view. Sadly the weather was hazy. The food was very good and cheap, service excellent, they even had ONE bottle of wine at a reasonable (compared to other places) price. When we had drunk this bottle we could bring our own - no corkage, this is not a concept known in India. Dinner was served on one big table which made for a very chatty and friendly evening. We had a driver and a car so we do not know how easy or difficult it is to get form this hotel into the centre or to cites as the hotel is on a hill away from the main town. Dieter and Zelda Rossi

The rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious. The room we got had a great view of the lake. The atmosphere was that of a home converted to a guest house. The owners were nice and friendly. You did have to look really hard to find a dustbin though!!
