Hampi's Boulders is set in beautiful, remote surroundings - and that is the only good thing I can think of to say about it! The reason we stayed there was because we had gathered that it was the best hotel in the Hampi area. This might have been true once - but I believe that there are better hotels available now, which are also nearer to the site. If we ever came to Hampi again we would stay at the Royal Orchid in Hospet, which is much more conveniently placed for the Hampi Site.

Everything about Hampi's Boulders was tired and needed attention. We asked for airconditioning which worked sporadically and was noisy when it did work. The food was passable, but not good enough. There was a pool but it was slippy and dirty. Staff were OK but you never felt that they would go out of their way to give you anything special in the way they
cared for you.

We feel that the Hampi's Boulders management should urgently take time out to go and see what tourists in India are currently offered for the same price. It is expensive - and in our view, definitely does not offer value for money. If it had been half the price, we would have felt able to give it a higher mark!

This eco resort makes an ideal venue for exploring the wonderful ruins of Hampi.
It is set in beautiful surroundings, and the individual cottages blend well with natural bolders. The owner has designed the whole establishment in a wonderful way , preserving the natural beauty of the place, whilst providing a very comfortable stay.
The hospitality provided by Ajay , Kumar and their team is second to none.
The food was much better than I expected from the other reviews.
My only regret is not staying long enough...2 nights was too short.

Room Tip: the sun cottage is adjacent to the river. It offers a wonderful view of sunrise. The secluded locat...

By Indian standards this eco-resort is far from rustic. Its non-airconditioned units are fine in the short months of cool weather (December - end February). Thereafter an air-conditioned one would be advisable. The scenery in the hotel's vast grounds, with varied vegetation much wild-life and the river flowing through a landscape notable above all for its beautiful boulders set against water and lush greenery, is fantastic. The seven kilometre drive (for which the hotel provides a shuttle service) to the river-bank opposite Hampi is also lovely. From the riverbank, a set of local ferries, annoyingly available only until 6 PM, carries one across for a modest fee. Hampi itself is extraordinary, on the scale of Petra and of other major world archeological sites. The hotel is distinguished above all, beyond the beauty of its surroundings for friendly, excellent service overseen by the highly effective and helpful majordomo Kumar. While I was there, the family that owns the property were in residence from Hyderabad, and the owner kindly invited me to join him for a glorious sun-rise best viewed from a spot he knew. The food is adequate and reassuring, but no reason to visit. All in all, an exceptional experience in a truly lovely eco-resort. As well, truly excellent value for money.

Room Tip: On balance, an airconditioned room might be best.

Set amidst rocks and bushes on the bank of the Tungabhadra river, the Hampi Boulders Resort offers an amazing experience of union with nature. Take the river bed Executive Cottages for the best views from the rooms and the sit outs. Don't miss the nature walk to the nearby hill top, bird watching and water fall on the property even if you have to skip a few monuments in Hampi.
There are deer and other charming variety of flora & fauna on the property and you can easily spend 2 days here with the activities & relaxation options available without venturing out of the property. The staff is friendly and try to go out of their way to help you even if some of the staff / attendants may find it difficult to converse in languages other than Kannada & Telegu.
Food is basic but the setting is quite nice overlooking rocks and lawn and the pool.
The pool is cute - shaped like a crater in a rocky bed.
The prohibitively high pricing on this property is the only major negative. In Dec 2011, it was Rs 10,000 per room per night for the Executive Sun Cottage with breakfast and dinner which is 15 times higher than the basic but cozy cottages available in the nearby Virupur Gadde ferry point area.
On nearby Hampi,
if you are taking the ferry from this side of Tungabhadra river (i.e. Anegundi/Virupur Gadde side) to the Hampi side, please be warned the ferry points, esp on the Hampi side is extremely dirty and of uneven terrain and is esp. difficult for small children and elderly people.
Apart from this, the dust and the day time heat can be very trying, so spend your energy wisely on what is really of interest to you than to try to cover all the ruins of similar look & feel.
The ruins of Hampi are definitely not as charming or imposing as those in Rajasthan, Egypt or Rome, nor is its history as interesting as these.
Try to spend evenings with the setting sun in the backdrop among the ruins than doing energy-sapping peak day tours.

Vittala on the banks of the river is probably the peak of the sightseeing spots in Hampi, and perhaps you can cover the Virupaksha Temple, being the main and the only active temple here.
A Congi ride in the river - available from Vittala Temple complex or from the Anegundi side - is a must-do if you have n't done earlier.
Sunset on the river and the rocks is a must-view photo oppurtunity.
Tungabhadra dam with its endless expanse of water offers an amazing view - try to cover it in your trip to Hampi - even if you have to skip some of the ruins.

Room Tip: connecting rooms are not available but you have adjacent rooms sharing the same private balcony / si...

Simple cottages, quite basic but in a wonderful setting among the rock boulders surrounding Hampi. You might spot a leopard in the evening and pet the emeu in the morning.
Rooms are well apointed but basic, like 3 stars. A nice pation in front for evening peace.
Restaurant has a buffet for all three meals, mainly vegetarian but nice simple fare.
Lack of power and use of generator makes it difficult to get ice for your drink.
Very graceful staff.

Room Tip: Try the suite overlooking the river
