My husband and I stayed here in September 2012 for 2 nights during our honeymoon.

The place is situated on the Hospet side of the river, a very short walk to the ferry that crosses to Hampi - perfect and convenient!

The accommodation consists of small circular huts with straw rooves and small verandahs - ours also had a long swing seat that overlooked the paddy fields that surround the place - beautiful! The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed watching the odd chipmunk scamper across the thatched roof.

We arrived very early in the morning and immediately sat down for breakfast. The dining area consists of two long tables, and cross-legged seating and plenty of cushions - comfortable and social.
The food was lovely and freshly prepared.

In the evening they try to switch to the solar power generated during sunlight hours, which does mean that the main circuitry is powered down - there are LED lights, but the plugs don't work, and there is no hot water. We were there during September so I don't think there was much solar power stored (end of monsoon season and sunset at about 6:30) so we went back to mains power after an hour or so. I liked the fact they were using solar power, though.

It is a lovely place to return to from Hampi in the evening, also. We had a leisurely dinner in the outside dining area and enjoyed some Kingfisher as the sun went down - the area is all soft lighting and relaxation.

They also have a couple of computers wired up for internet usage.

The staff are also friendly, and helpful.

Thoroughly recommended

I have been to Hampi thrice in past 3 years and all the times I have stayed at this place. One will fall in love with the spectacular view of the river and the paddy fields. The cottages and rooms are in good condition and they have a very nice and relaxing dining area. Their restaurant serves great food which is an add on benefit for the travelers as they can relax there without going out to look for places to eat.
Recommended for friends!
Must Try : Banana Choco Fritters.

Room Tip: Rooms/Cottages facing the river and/or paddy fields with the swing bed or cane swing are the best.

We stayed at this guest house during 2012 summer. I would definitely rate this top for the reasonable prices, friendly staff and most of all the views and close access to the river. In fact i first heard about this on this very site. After reading encouraging reviews i went ahead and booked. Now i just thought to share my experience on this site.

Room Tip: I suggest people to prefer the cottages facing the paddy fields and the river.

Hi - We were 6 adults & 2 kids at Mowgli Guest House during this long Ramzaan Week end. The team at Mowgli is courteous, awesome in hospitality & discipline. It takes approximately 30-40 minutes from Hospet but on reaching there you feel relaxed. The rooms facing the lush green paddy fields with Joola is really great to be relaxed. The Chief Srinivas is accomodative, Roshan & Team at the Kitchen is good who gives us real fast service. Pls do not expect a south indian breakfast. Ground Staff Nanjappa is always a shout away to support you with cleaning & hot water.... A walk through the paddy fields early in the morning is a breathe away to lifes glory..... Kindly avoid visiting a place called Nargila near Mowgli which will attract with lighting & decoratives... Its absolutely absurd... Full of Ganja Smokers, People there are very confused.... They procure raw materials like chicken beer only on visitors placing an order.... On your way return i advise you can have a finger licking good food at Siddharth's "Purple Grass" Awesome food, great ambience & very much approachable.

Room Tip: Pick the ones facing the paddy fields - best would be with a swing.

I dint stay at the Mowgli Guest House but ate lunch at the restaurant on the day I was on this side of the river.

Had ordered pizzas and a few non-alcoholic drinks - pretty tasty and value for money. The view was great as the restaurant overlooked miles of green rice fields ...

Place was clean and service pretty prompt.
