Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Ride 4 a woman is a women's NGO that has 300 women members and empowers women by teaching them skills that they can use to earn a living. You can come and spend a day with the women and learn how to weave a simple basket, learn how to cook a traditional meal, or learn how to dig using a hoe. You can spend a whole day or just afew hours with the women. Its such a great experience and one we recommend highly while in bwindi.

"Ride 4 a Woman" is a wonderful self-help grass roots organization that enables women to make clothing and various souvenir products (that you'll want to take home with you) to provide them with an income and make them independent. I believe I was told that many of the women were victims of domestic violence. It was an emotional and personal visit for my wife and I and we were pleased to be able to purchase a few items to show our support. All products are being hand made, some such as shirts and dresses, while you are visiting.

A workshop for (mostly) women to help them provide for their families. Handmade cloth items ad well as grass baskets. Some things are a bit pricey, but the cause is worth it to me. Lovely workers and staff.

We stayed at Ride 4 a Woman for three days as part of our Gorilla Tracking safari. Ride 4 a Woman was the best experience of our trip Apart from being a comfortable place to stay with wonderful food and hospitality, we felt welcomed and part of the community during our brief stay. I spent time learning how to make baskets - the women who work there were incredibly kind and generous with their time. It was also great to know that our stay was directly helping people. Highly recommended.

Went her on the cultural tour. It is a center to support battered women where it teaches them a trade. When we got there is started pouring rain, so we stayed longer. You can watch them make the crafts. They are not pushy to sell items, but they are available to buy. The idea is to empower local women with skills to be independent.
