Beautiful lodge in the mountains. The bungalow is in fact a small villa, with room, living room, fireplace... The managerin, butler and staff are very kind. Friendly. Food is very good. Don't hesitate to do a walk in the very close village and buy some handcrafts from the local people. The ultimate experience is the encounter of gorillas in the dense jungle. No doubt if the Humans beings have a soull, the Gorilla also have one. Back to the Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, you can take an unforgettable rest and dream about our brothers and sisters the Gorillas.

My stay at Clouds was one of the most memorable in my life. The location is stunning as it follows up to its name: you truly are in the clouds (!). The rooms (cottages) are spacious and equipped with super comfortable beds and beautiful washrooms - which you will be grateful for after your gorilla track.

The surrounding area of the lodge is gorgeous with a fresh and healthy vegetable garden - its great to see how the kitchen staff carefully picks your veggies every morning.

Which brings me to the staff - from the manager to the housekeepers, everybody goes out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The manager picked up on our love for chocolate, and got the chef to make a delicious rich chocolate cake for with the afternoon tea after our long hike.

There is loads of comfortable seating in the lodge and all of them come with a stunning view.

A tip for if you are visiting clouds: arrange a massage for after your hike! The spa cottage seems like your regular 'in the middle of nowhere' massage place. But nothing is more true. Once you lay down your massage therapist will open the door and you will be welcomed by beautiful views, smells and sounds. A massage to never forget...

All together: is it worth it? Yes times 10.

This is your five star lodge in Uganda. Long road to get there, but well worth it. And at 7000 ft elevation - no mosquitoes! After successful gorilla trek we took the Batwa /Pygmy tour - which was a living history tour, with song, making fire, collecting honey, shooting bow and arrow, weaving, and a very entertaining guide. Also took the community tour - visiting blacksmith, another very enchanting "HEALER" an old man who opened up his home for us, weavers, and an elderly forest woman. Clouds had fabulous meals, very large interior lodge, nicely furnished, fireplaces, beautiful terraces, and the friendliest of managers (thanks Rowena & Bella). Entertainment came to us with an orphanage school who sang and danced to our hearts delight. Accommodations are private stone cottages, plenty of hot water (from 6-10 am & pm) and great selection of South African Wines! Stay an extra day - you'll be glad you did (we did!)

Room Tip: They're all beautiful rooms. Take advantage of the spa/massage. Great setting!

Clouds is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed at. Our room was huge and gorgeous, with a separate seating area, a double-side fireplace so you could have a fire in the sitting room and the bedroom both, and a huge bathroom/dressing room. The ubiquitous mosquito net had a welcome twist, which is that the net extended around the night tables as well as the bed. So convenient. Outside the room was a lovely patio with a beautiful view of the mountains. The food was delicious, and the service was fantastic throughout. Someone was always asking if they could bring us something.

Also, Clouds has a connection to the local community and contributes part of the room fees to the community. I recommend taking a community walk while there. Very informative.

What a great place...very attentive staff, gorgeous views and cottages...quiet and peaceful. They wash your clothes and boots after trekking, wake you up with coffee at 5am for trekking. Food is good, could be better, never saw the spa, stone steps to the cottages were difficult and the road in is terrible. Bring a good book and relax because there is no tv and internet only in the lodge but you do have a fire in your fireplace and total peace plus gorillas!
