We visited Koula and Joe's restaurant twice in as many weeks, and each time the food and service did not disappoint. The avocado salad is really tasty, and enough for a whole meal. The peri peri chicken is as large as it is delicious - enough for a couple to share. I really can't find fault with any of their dishes. The Kleftiko lamb on a Thursday night is particularly good. They do a well priced ( under R100) Sunday roast, which I also recommend. This artisanal, Portu-Greek fusion eaterie's popularity is due to the quality of its food, and the personal service that the owners lavish on their guests.

This small owner- run bistro will always serve you a freshly made meal, from pasta to souvlaki to steak to meze. Tasty, freshly made, value for money quality food. When you eat there you become part of the family!
In Jukskei Park, playing Rd, opposite the Caltex Garage.

We had a fantastic diner at Clay Oven. Joe da Silva the chef created a lovely personal vegan dish for us. As a starter we had houmous, salad, pita bread, veggies in tenpura, fresh garlicdip, olives, baked potatoes and onionrings. As main course we had a quinoaburger with lentils, egg plant and red onion chutney. We had to take a doggybag home because it was to much:)). You can not avoid to visit this place when you are a vegan and in Johannesburg!

I was a frequent visitor to the Clay Oven on my last stay in Jukskei Park and enjoyed Breakfasts, Brunches and Lunches - not all on the same day! The service was always friendly and - on occasions - humorously erratic but always with a smile. Enjoyed each and every meal but especially my Sunday lunch special. Great and varied menu and fantastic value for money. Keep that oven glowing!
