“Cute hotel, very nice rooms, great location”
Reviewed 17 March 2012

It's been a while since I was here, but I thought I should take the time to finally write my review.

I loved the nautical theme of the hotel. The room was excellent. I had a nice little balcony with a couple of chairs overlooking the harbor, it was fantastic. The staff were very helpful, setting up my car rental, always giving me great advice on where to eat and what to see.
The location was perfect. You are within walking distance of Boulder Beach, where you can see African penguins, that was great...not to mention it's a very scenic stretch of coastline. I rented a car one day and took a drive down to the Cape of Good Hope and practically had the entire place to myself on a gorgeous day, it was something I'll never forget.
The area around the hotel is nice, with a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Simons Town was very quaint and picturesque. I ate breakfast every day at Bertha's, directly below the Quayside, and it was pretty decent. If I had one negative thing to say about Simons Town, it would be that the food was generally not very good. But I'm reaching there. I don't remember there being a gym at the Quayside, maybe there was, but if so, I missed it.
I had a great time in South Africa, and the Quayside Hotel had a lot to do with it. I'll always have very fond memories of enjoying a glass of South African wine while sitting on the fantastic little balcony and staring at False Bay.
If you're in Simons Town, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: The rooms on the same level as the lobby, which are directly over Bertha's restaurant, are the b...

Nicely kept and maintained property, with professionally stylized airy yachting interior, now has a breakfast room in the same clean bright style with exceptional service, If you are lucky enough you will be served there by Seyabonga who has the perfect manners and smile to start the morning, much better than last time when you had to go downstairs to the commercial cafe below.
We have stayed here twice now, once in 2009 and because of this pleasant experience we headed straight back March 2012 and found that the good standard had not change.

The hotel is town centre right on the quay side, parking at the door, first come first served or behind the hotel (not inc in the rate) you are not far from Boulders, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay & across the hill to Scarborough.

We went for an evening meal across the road at 'The Meeting Place', very nice service from two girls, food was good, atmosphere great, prices exceptional for the quality ingredients.
We had Fresh Line Fish on crushed potato, olives and rosa bella tomatoes with beurre blanc and very nice it was too.
All in all a very nice stay.
Hope you enjoy yourselves, you pay for what you get and in my opinion this is money well spent, there are plenty of cheaper places but I have stayed in many worse places on this visit and paid more money.

Room Tip: quay side rooms are quiter, having said that the road is not busy at night

Nice hotel, nice big comfortable rooms, TV, kettle, shower and bath, etc. Simon's town was smaller than we had expected but there were a few decent restaurants so we had a nice dinner and breakfast. The hotel is right at the harbour, nice views. Very windy. We spent one night and that was enough we thought, we drove down to Boulder's beach straight after breakfast and felt like we got there before the tourists from Cape Town so that was a good advantage, then we continued on to Cape of Good Hope and also made it before the buses of tourists.

Room Tip: We didn't have the sea view, but saw rooms that did, if the difference in price isn't too bi...

Thank you to Gideon and the friendly staff of this beautiful Hotel, the Quayside Hotel in Simon's Town, for an amazing stay ! The rooms are beautifully appointed and very spacious. The decor is fresh and nautical themed which was well chosen as this hotel rest's at the waters edge ! The new Breakfast Room has opened and is just as stunning! We really enjoyed our breakfasts and the food was top notch ! I can most definitely recommend this establishment and am sure to return as soon as possible ! I have found a "little tranquil haven" at my door step !

Room Tip: Most room in this hotel are sea-facing with a balcony ! Well worth asking for one. Lovely dinner ven...

Came on the door and luckily got a harbour view room with wonderful balcony, star watching at night is amazing, room is modern & clean, would have liked free WIFI but you can get it below in Bertha's restaurant where we took breakfast of Bacon & egg barmcakes & coffee for around R25 each overlooking the same harbour. Simonstown is a good base, lots to do around and about, you are a short drive from Kalk Bay, good restaurants & bars & Fish Hoek. We loved it here.

Room Tip: Anything overlooking the harbour but one with a balcony is best
