“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

One of the most amazing sites. Could absolutely spend more than one day there. We ended up walking up to the Treasury Building and then we walked a bit further interior to eat lunch. Was done with a tour group ranging from 30 to 80 year olds and all were able to do the walk. Took a camel ride back to the treasury building, and finally a horse pulled cart from the Treasury Building to the entrance. Horse pulled cart was scarier than the camel ride. Save a lot of space on your digital card for tons of photos, because literally there are 1000s of great photo opportunities throughout the area. Careful with buying jewelry/souvenirs inside the park, because you will be able to get likely better deals for exactly the same thing outside the park in the surrounding stores. Went in March and it can definitely be a bit chilly in the am (we had to buy gloves in the surrounding stands before entering the park). Wear layers, because it definitely warmed up as the day progressed. An absolute MUST SEE.

“A Must See”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

Petra was worth the trip and the expense. Everything else in Jordan was relatively inexpensive so at least spend the time and the money here.
We enjoyed the walk in and then my daughter and husband hiked further to the Monastery and other places. It is a huge area so plan on spending the full day. Depending on the time of year you travel, drink lots of water. We saw folks not doing so well simply because they were not prepared for the heat; or the walk in and out. You can choose to ride a horse in, mule, camel or cart so there are those options available.
My daughter speaks Arabic so this helped in the bartering of most of the services offered.
Just say "no" to the little children who want to sell you numerous postcards and other things and are pretty relentless about it.
We would visit Petra again as I felt we did not see it all. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

“Expansive wonder to explore”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

A huge site that the day trip tours fail to do justice. Ideally, a minimum of two days is required to explore the site. Visit early morning before the tour groups and enjoy the solitude. Access to many of the "buildings" is good so you can really get a feeling of the place.
