Visited the windmill for the first time today after passing it many times.

Good walk...not too long depending where you park. Its a lovely walk threw the woods and countryside. Windmill is only open at certain times of the year so watch out to see if it's open.

We wanted to,go for a walk on Ashdown Forest and chose the route starting from Friends Clump car park as we were interested on seeing a windmill on our walk. It certainly was a most delightful find and run by very friendly and knowledgable volunteers. You are able to go inside the windmill and what astounded me was the original tree trunk in the middle which dates back to the 1500's. Highly recommend this wonderful windmill.

The windmill can be reached by a large variety of beautiful walks around the area.Streams and rivers trail through the beautiful forest, and stunning views all over the downs. The windmill is no longer in use, but all the history, and facts etc, can be found in the information centre. There is a shepherds Hut, all in all this is a little gem hidden away in the forest.

This is a lovely place to visit. It is short walk from Box car park and you get good views of the countryside and Friends Clump on the way. The windmill itself dates back to the times of Henry VIII and you can go around inside and see the grinding stones and how the flour is made. The volunteers there give mini tours and explain how the mill worked. Once a year it is still used to make flour.
It has limited opening times and days so check first if you intend to visit and it is free but there is a donation box in the windmill to help with running costs.
