Very nice little place in a great location. Small amount of parking out front, but a larger car park at the rear. We ate in the bar which I understand doesn't take bookings so it's first come, first served. Good steak and burger - the ribs on an adjacent table also looked rather good. Overall a decent menu and some good beers. Wife loved the duck in wellies!

Went for a midweek (Thursday) meal for two in in August, were originally sat right by the main stairs however following a cancellation on the night the maître d' offered to move us without us asking.
We selected both the 'specials' to start. The tomato and pepper soup was lovely and the breads arrived promptly. The prawn cocktail that was offered as 'tongue in cheek' in a Martini glass was not really value for money, 3 prawns and a handful for £9 is a little much.
The mains however were both delicious the chicken was cooked perfectly with a range of flavours including white bean mash, the salmon was also excellent.
If we had had our evening again we would have avoided the starters and had deserts.
The house wine was also up to scratch.
Definitely a 'special occasion' venue, and the menu changes frequently however the website version is not always the same as can be found on the tables.

My girlfriend and I came here to celebrate my birthday. Bread was lovely, our mains were faultless, great steak and the lamb was expertly cooked. Staff were great too, very helpful and friendly. Would definately return.

My husband very kindly booked for us to eat here for my birthday with some friends. We have eaten in the restaurant before but some years ago so it was lovely to go again. We all had Steaks and were all incredibly impressed. They were cooked exactly how we wanted them and whilst expensive, as a treat they were worth it. The only criticism we had was that the two of us that had the fries style chips couldn't finish them as they were far too salty (and I like my salt!). We did mention it to our server so hopefully they corrected it for other tables.
Great puddings, great wine, great prosecco, fantastic night!

This is the place if you want to eat exceptional local food, in an exceptional atmosphere with exceptional service. But it is important to pre-book and take a Sat Nav as it is not easy to find. For the more active visitor their web-site has a range of countryside walks
