One of the best Plazas I have been too in Chile. Lots of activities, crafts and pubs nearby. I'm not sure if it is like this all year, but I went at the end of the summer and it was very entertaining.

This plaza de armas doesn't have too much going on but it is an interesting spot to do some people watching.

There are some restaurants just off the plaza and the tourist information too.

As mentioned every town has a town square.
This is one of the better ones.
Some excellent shopping to one side of the square and plenty of shade to watch the world go by

When we were there in the weekend, there was a lot of things going on. Live music, children playing in the water, a little market. It is worth a visit when you are in Coyhaique.

I did not have high hopes for Coyhaique, but wanted to see it while staying at a fishing lodge 45 minutes away. Coyhaique is a busy town, but not quaint. The plaza is ok, there was an artist market which was a bit sad. However, we did not have high expectations.
