Clean, comfortable, and a good breakfast

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Jun 2019
We spent a night here before heading off on the trails of Cerro Castillo. The room was spacious, with room for repacking, and the breakfast was very good. The only drawback is the distance to the town center.

This hotel is located on the way to town from the Balamaceda airport, so it is quite easy to get to it. It is a short walk away from the center of Coyhaique. The rooms are nicely set and comfortable, except for the noise. There is apparently no acoustic treatment between rooms and this is an issue that, if addressed, would significantly improve this property. The breakfast includes eggs.

We spent two nights here (Friday and Saturday). On Friday we were so tired sleep was not a problem. But on Saturday a different story. A business located not far from the hotel plays loud music during the afternoon and evening. You must keep your windows open since there is no airconditioning in the hotel and it is impossible not to hear this music. This is probably one of the most continuously annoying experiences on a Saturday night that I have heard ever. I would have given this hotel a higher rating (3stars) but for this one reason, they just dont seem to be able to do anything about it and dont seem to care.

This is a 2 story property located on the south edge of town within walking distance of restaurants, shops, etc. The town is quaint; even though large it is easy to walk around. There are dogs everywhere generally inside fenced yards. In fact, you see property fences literally everywhere.

The staff is generally helpful and a couple of people speak English quite well. Our room was 232 and faced south. We had two full sized beds, a 3 drawer chest, desk, TV, fridge, safe, heaters, but no a/c. There is one narrow window that can be opened. Power is 220V and there are plenty of plugs but no 110VAC plugs. Carpet was worn but not in bad shape; bedside lamps are individually controlled and there is a closet in the room as well.

Breakfast is ok with not a huge variety of choices. Parking is free and they do have a pool inside. If the music issue could be solved only then would I stay here again.

The hotel is in the suburb of Coyhaique. The town is small but still it is about 20 minutes walking to the centre. A good place for a short break. There is a swimming pool and a sauna in it. It is mandatory to wear a bathing cap though, the sign on the door of the swimming pool says. I did, that spoiled all and my hair smelled rubber after that cap. Breakfast was OK. The staff is nice, but not English speaking. I arrived in the evening the receptionist spoke English, the next morning I was checking out - 2 receptionist, none speaks English. It was raining and windy, I asked to call me a taxi to the bus station, as I had a suitcase with me. There was no network, the calls did not go through. I had to walk to the station. Wifi worked in the room with troubles. Nice for a short break on the road.

This is a pretty soul-less place, but perfectly fine for a few night's accommodation. The restaurant serves good dinners but the breakfasts are a bit limited.

Reception was very helpful in sorting out a number of issues during our stay. All but one person had good English.
