I still have a smile on my face thinking about my 7 days stay at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro. I have stayed about 9 or 10 times at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso in Mexico (and loved it every time) but this was my first time staying at the Iberostar Grand in Punta Cana. The resort did not disappoint. The grounds and the beach are immaculately clean, filled with beautiful palm trees, flowers, and luscious plants. There are plenty of beach chairs available even for late raisers like myself. The food is good, even great at the dinner restaurants. The dinner restaurants are beautifully decorated, with an upscale look and feel to them. The best feature of the breakfast buffet were the crapes, prepared by a true artist - delicious and a beautifully presented. The staff is very friendly, kind, helpful, and always smiling and happy to see you. If they make a mistake, they take responsibility for it and make up for it in a wonderful way. When we arrived, our butler asked us whether we were celebrating anything special and we told him that that it was my birthday celebration trip. He asked which day and he promised to make it special. However, he forgot about it. I was a little disappointed but we still had a great time and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The next day, the butler supervisor apologized for this mishap and offered us a romantic dinner for two on the beach. The romantic dinner was wonderful - roses, lit pathway to the table, romantic music, a private waiter, delicious food and wine. I felt like a princess. They definitely made me feel special and erased all negative impressions. The rooms are comfortable but they are much smaller (especially the bathroom which is too small for two people to get ready simultaneously) than the rooms in the Iberostar Grand Paraiso in Riviera Maya. Overall, we had a wonderful time and we will definitely be back soon.

This review will be narrow as lots of people have written about food, pools, Beach, Butlers, Etc.

There is a gym at the Grand Bavaro but the real attraction is at The next-door resort, Bavaro Suites. Bellmen will drive you in a golf cart or you can walk in 5-10 minutes. There is a world class gym with everything you would find in a crossfit box, plus a full service gym. There are several classes each day including yoga, pilates, boot camp, TRX, spinning, etc. Outstanding instructors Samantha and Antonio!

We also enjoyed great service from our butlers Melvin and Silvestre.

Dear guest,

Thank you for staying at IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Bavaro.

This hotel is part of a big complex where we have 3 other properties destined for families, between each there are attractions shared as the casino, golf courses and a well equipped gymnasium. We are happy to know that you have enjoyed the classes.

An amazing treat to spend 14 nights at the Grand. You can't get closer to paradise! Our room was clean, light & airy & maintained to a very high standard.
For me, the icing on the cake was the staff. Our butlers, Dawel & Cordero went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We were welcomed at breakfast by the wonderful Eduardo, who saw to our every need. We were persuaded to play beach games by Francisco, Miguel & Jeffrey, still need to brush up on my archery!
Our evenings were spent at the lobby bar where you will find some good entertainment & drinks served by the lovely Sujeidy.
Our days were spent on the beautifully maintained beach where Lely the waiter made sure we were never without a cocktail.
The only thing I could suggest would be more choice for your vegetarian guests. It would also be better if there was a separate food station too because although there are dishes available, you often had to use tongs and serving cutlery that had also been used by other guests to serve meat or fish products. Other than that, perfect in every way. I cannot wait to come back!

Did a very short trip to this resort in early December as an incentive work trip. The resort, the service, the amenities and facilities are all 5 star. The resort is immaculately clean and all the employees are incredibly friendly. If this were a boutique hotel in a large US City, I'd probably knock this down to a 4 because of the food, but its not, its a huge all-inclusive resort in the Dominican.

rooms: We didn't spend alot of time in our room because why would you, but the room was large and had more than enough space. The balcony was amazing and we had a perfect view over the pool and grounds to the ocean. The bed was quite comfortable and the layout is quite practical.

Pool: Spent most of our time on the beach, but the little time we spent around the pool was great. The sunbeds with the covered tents (I'll call them the cabanas for lack of a better term) do get reserved pretty early in the morning. That said, there are still open lounge chairs all over the place, so if you don't need the cover, not a big deal at all.

Beach: Beach was incredible. Sand was super fine, they keep it really cleaned up. When we walked down the beach past other parts of Iberostar's property (i.e. the other resort levels) and past the neighboring resorts, you really start to realize how much the Grand takes care of theirs. The beaches on those properties look ragged and not taken care of. The Grand's beach is perfect, tons of palapas to sit under if you so choose, clean, and always raked, with no seaweed. The wait staff is always coming to check if you need anything, which is great. Manual, who works the side of the beach closest to the "Star Prestige" area was amazing.

Food: This is the only slight negative. I'd say the food was just fine. I wasn't expecting much though, so actually it is probably better than I'd have guessed. The breakfasts are perfect at the buffet, good coffee, great juice, made to order omelettes and eggs, etc. I stayed away from the buffet warming units as most of the stuff in there was dried out or soggy (either/or). We ate at the pool side grill one day and the pool/beach buffet the other for lunch. Both were fine. Nothing outstanding. We did the buffet twice for dinners because we wanted the flexibility of hitting dinner whenever we wanted to. It was fine. The first night there was a ceviche station that was great, but it wasn't there the second night (though when our group asked for some, the chef had some made especially for us which was a nice touch). The other items found less impressive. We ate at the Mediterranean restaurant our last night and I didn't think that was anything better than the buffet.

Service: This is where the grand really probably separated itself. Our butlers were both outstanding, but especially Rafael who went over and above on 2 occasions, including when my wife got sick and he secured us a late checkout so she could relax in our room it was time to leave the resort. Almost every other person we encountered not only did their job with a smile, but made you feel they genuinely enjoyed helping you.

One note, out of our group of 10, 2 people did get sick while we were here (only here for 3 nights). One of those people was off site for a while, but my wife was not. But it happens. Its the Caribbean, there are land-mines on the buffet tables, you get a bad piece of fish, you accidentally swallow some water brushing your teeth. While it sucks to get sick on vacation, if you come to this part of the world, it can happen. The fact that the resort was so accommodating after it happened (offering a doctor, medicine, giving us late check-out, etc.), that makes this resort experience even better.

Room Tip: Ocean View was nice. Not sure how expensive it is over the normal rooms, but it was nice.

This is an upscale, adults-only, all-inclusive resort. Transport time from airport was reasonable. Staff speaks English and is very friendly and accommodating. Pool area is good size, but not enough cabanas for everyone (snag one early). Same goes for beach cabanas. But they are nice when you can get them. Included drinks didn't seem particularly strong on the alcohol. Beach was nice, but go left unless you want to be hounded to buy stuff.
Rooms were comfortable enough but some areas showing a little wear and tear. AC temps good. Bathrooms spacious although I doubt the dropdown screening prevented 100% of view of you from outside. Several housekeeping services throughout the day. Good bed and pillows. Lots of options for minibar/food. Our butlers Alejandro and Luis were wonderful. Thumbs up to greeting us and keeping us comfy. Tipped at the end when we left.
Onsite "theater" was tolerable (probably enjoy it the more you drink). Onsite restaurants were very good, but service usually slow. Reserve before you arrive.
Breakfasts and lunches were almost always the same although there were a lot of choices (if you like cheese, they got you covered.)

Room Tip: No bad room views. You get what you pay for: exterior, interior or ocean.
