My partner and I have always had good experiences staying with Amari establishments. The Amari Vogue was no exception and in fact was the best experience we have had with Amari hotels.

We spent three nights in an Ocean Villa. Note that there are two kinds of villas: they come with either an outdoor jacuzzi or a plunge pool. We picked one with a pool. The pool itself was not very large, but staying in one of the villas means that the other larger pools are right at your doorstep.

The room itself was amazing: spacious and well decorated. There was even a four poster bed! I had made mention that we were celebrating an anniversary when making my reservation. The hotel staff must have went out of their way as we received a complimentary bottle of red wine, rose petals in the bath tub, and rose petals on the bed as well!

The staff were excellent. Service was always impeccable. If you're just lazing by the pool in the afternoon, waiters will bring you tall glasses of ice-cold water and even ice-cream. We also got a tip from Michael (the Manager) to visit Ao Nang beach, which we did not regret. Good food there and cheap massages.

Food at both restaurants (the Lotus and the Bellini) was good. We especially enjoyed the beef salad from the Lotus Restaurant, and the tenderloin steak and prosciutto pizza from the Bellini.

We also had a massage at the Breeze Spa which is located within the resort itself. It was the most relaxing massage we have ever gotten. The ambience was perfect for relaxing as well.

Location wise, the Amari Vogue is at a very quiet area, no stores or restaurants in the vicinity of the resort. Not an issue for us as we were there to simply relax. We had arranged for an airport transfer and when the driver stopped at a petrol station on the way to the resort, we took the opportunity to hop into a 7-11 to stock up on our favourite snacks and drinks.

Shuttle bus services are provided for free which take you to Ao Nang beach where there are roadside stores, some drinking holes and restaurants. It may be worth spending a few hours there if you wish to see a bit more of Krabi, although the temptation to just stay put and be pampered at the resort is a tad hard to resist!

All in all, we had an excellent stay and we would like to thank the staff at the Amari Vogue for making it all possible.

Room Tip: The Ocean Villas do not have a direct sea view and are located on the ground floor. This makes for easy access to the beach and the pools. If you want a sea view, ask for a room on the higher levels.

Perfect family vacation with young kids. Take the pool villa front line to the beach. The villa has a spacious bed room, large bathroom and living room we used for the kids to sleep in, a nice privet pool and a balcony with view to the beach. It's just the right size. beautiful beach, lovely restaurant on the beach. You can relax and eat with your swimming suit while kids are playing in the sand. Very friendly team, especially for kids. We stayed there with our 3 kids (ages 1.5, 3.5, 12) in April 2011 and loved it!

Room Tip: pool villa front line to the beach - makes the whole diferent.

We spent 4 nights at the Amari Vogue in June 2012 (monsoon season, although we never saw a drop of rain). It was a beautiful hotel and the views from the beach were stunning. The staff was all very helpful and friendly. It is a bit isolated so there’s not an abundance of activities to do. Since others have covered the amazing features of the hotel, I’ll instead offer some of the activities we did at and around the Amari Vogue:

- For 1700 baht, you can take a 4-hour longboat ride to Hong Island and two other islands. This was the best part of our trip. If you go, bring a towel & beach bag (both provided by hotel), sunscreen and water. Wear your bathing suit. Our longboat driver provided us with a snorkel & mask and 2 bottles of water. We brought books, snacks and things to do on the beaches, but didn’t need them – the swimming and snorkeling was more than enough. There are lots of fish on Hong Island and Lading Island that will crowd around you to be fed, if you’re into that (we were).
- We paid 380 baht to rent a motorbike for 24 hours. It was a little intimidating to drive at first, but we eventually got the hang of it and drove it to Ao Nang and all around the countryside. This was MUCH better than taking the shuttle to Ao Nang, because we were on our own terms and the scooter was a lot of fun. We stopped at some outdoor markets and restaurants during our drive and really got to experience the local life. The hotel gives you a map and we only got lost a couple of times (and that was part of the fun).
- We hiked in the National Park adjacent to the hotel. If you plan to do this, bring closed-toe shoes, start early, and plan for about 5 hours to reach the viewpoint and come back. We weren’t prepared so we only hiked a little ways but we saw some wildlife and heard crazy gibbon calls. Bring LOTS of water – it’s hot and steep.
- We visited the spa at Amari Vogue. It costs about $50/person in low season for a massage and a 30 minute body scrub. In Ao Nang, we paid about $5/person for a massage, and the massages themselves weren’t much different. The difference (and what we ultimately decided made the huge price difference worth it) was the atmosphere. The Breeze Spa at Amari Vogue was relaxing and calming. The massage hut in Ao Nang was a lot of fun, but definitely not relaxing!
- Happy hour during sunset is wonderful. During low season, they did not have the live music others have talked about, but we essentially had a private restaurant each night.

If you plan to walk along the beach, know that it doesn’t extend very far. You could probably go about half a mile in either direction before there were too many rocks to pass. The whole stretch, though, was exquisitely beautiful. Breakfasts were great – plenty of Thai, Indian, American & European foods. We ate everything and never had a touch of sickness. Dinners at both the Thai restaurant and Italian restaurant were so-so, although Michael told me they’re getting a new chef.

Overall, a wonderful experience in the most beautiful place I’ve ever visited!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor! We stayed in 4403, which meant lots of stairs, but the view was great.

This was our second trip to Thailand and we decided to head to krabi after our trip to Cambodia.

We had read the reviews and agreed with all of them. This resort is well maintained, the room are large, nicely decorated and clean. The food was great and the breakfast is nice really everything is great about this place and I am saying as someone who stays about 100 nights per years in Hotel.

The only small downside is that the Hotel is quite far from the center town and in Krabi taxi are difficult and quite expensive unlike the rest of Thailand where we traveled. The best trick we can give you is negotiate your way from the airport and when you find a reasonable taxi driver that makes you a good deal, keep is card. We asked the hotel if they could arrange the taxi back to airport and they were ready to help us but the price they gave us was much higher than what we paid on the way from airport to Hotel so we called back the first taxi driver we had and that had left us is card and he made us a good deal once again :)

Dear Pierre-Marc L,

Thank you very much for the contribution. We are happy that you like Amari Vogue. We agree with you that transfers are expensive in Krabi compared to other destinations like Bangkok. Unfortunately there is not much we can about this as a hotel. As you mentioned the best rate you get is if you find a local driver and try to negotiate the price down. The Hotel is bound to a contract as some of the transfers are outsourced and therefore we are unfotyunately not able to lower them at this stage.

Nevertheless we hope to see you back in Krabi one day.

Kind regards,

Michael Vogt
