This is a nice resort, with a great location and friendly helpful staff, it missed out however as it was the last of 6 places we visited in Kerala, all of the others received 5 stars because they strived to provide a level of service that exceeded expectations, this place gave the impression that their goal was to provide the minimum required. It would take very little to make this resort spectacular, even putting comfortable seating on the verandas would be a good start, perhaps cleaning the shower heads so rainfall showers provide rainfall showers, or putting full sized toilet rolls in the room so that guests didn’t run out.
We had to ask for our room to be made up, it was 4pm with no sign of housekeeping, and we had run out of water and toilet roll. They did oblige but Room refresh was always a lottery, sometimes shampoo and shower gel replaced, sometimes glasses changed, sometimes sanitary disposal bags but never a whole refresh.
The toilet was broken when we arrived (seat detached and it was leaking from the base) I was told it would be fixed ‘tomorrow’ but we were here 2 more days and ‘tomorrow’ never came! We were offered to change room but we were already unpacked and settled so declined.
We asked twice for the mini bar (fridge) to be fixed, it was not working at all, the second time it was changed promptly.
Food was good, and restaurant staff were very friendly, you had to book an hour in advance because food was freshly prepared, however on all three nights we were here the starter had not been properly defrosted and was still cold in the middle. The food was not as expensive as we’d expected, given there are no nearby options to keep the prices down, but still above average prices for nice though not exceptional food.
The gardens are beautifully maintained, they are swept and watered daily, and you will see a host of birds and animals throughout the resort which is delightful.
There are Insufficient beds by the beach, there are 16 rooms but not enough beds available for one person from each room to lay by the beach!
My wife had two spa treatments on site, they were very nice but quite expensive, there are lots of other options a short tuktuk ride away.
We visited the coir museum, see separate review, reception organised a tuktuk and negotiated for him to take us, wait at the museum, and bring us back for 250 rupees. He also stopped at one of the numerous shops on the route to buy drinks and snacks at sensible prices
