“Great little place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

Cycling back to New Bagan from the temples one day we stopped here for lunch. Cheap and cheerful cafe, portions large and include rice.
Very popular at lunchtime never made it back on the evening.. Owners really lovely and I hope they do well.

“Great value tasty food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2012

I stumbled across this place on my first day in Bagan and ate here everyday for the remaining three days. The food is fresh and simple, and better than almost everywhere else I ate in Burma. The avocade salad, pumpkin curry, and fish curry are all excellent. The owners are the kindest and sweetest people we met, and will bring a real smile to your face (as well as free rice to accompany the curry, and free fruit for desert).

“Friendly staff and tasty food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 December 2011

We were met by the owner and stopped just for a drink but as the menu looked good said we would return for lunch. The meal includes rice and the portions are very big and I was glad we were cycling back as I felt stuffed. We chose aubergine curry and fried okra and we were also given vegetable salad and tofu. I would include this place on one of your day trips.

“Quaint little place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2011

I hate giving negative reviews to places whose people were nice and sweet to me (as the owners of this place were) but someone has to call it as they see it. I know as a traveler, I always appreciate the honest reviews and advice by TA posters so here goes.

The food like any place we've been to in Bagan was so so. We ordered the usual chinese style noodles and a pineapple and cashew salad. The noodles were too salty and greasy. The pineapple and cashew salad was just that, no veggies, no nothing just pineappales and cashews, not at all what one would expect a salad to be. If a sparkling stainless steel kitchen is what you're looking for this is not the place. Now if you don't mind "roughing it", eating on slightly dusty and gritty tables and overlooking the quaintness you might want to give this place a try.

The owners (I repeat) are very nice, sweet and eager to please though as most restaurants we've been to in Burma, the staff (in this case the owners) haven't learned the art of balancing attentiveness without hovering.

“Best Value in Bagan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2011

You can't beat San Thi Dar for great food at great prices. Don't let the rustic setting and simple tables fool you. The curies are all delicious and a fraction of the price at the fancier places in town. Has been one of our favorites for years.
