We visited Gondola in April and it is a best time to visit Gondola.
Snow clad mountains and shivering cold weather coupled with awesome scenic beauty will surely make your day.
Though a bit expensive since its ticket is Rs.1600 for 2 levels but every money seems to perfectly spent. You wont regret later on.
Visited gondola on 9th june and it was really crowded. We had to be in queue for 2 hrs while going n 1 hour while coming back. Plus the guides in Gulmarg have made this cable car experience very bad.
Still i would say that the ride was very beautiful n a must if u have to visit affarwatt peak for beautiful snow experience.
It's most attractive point of Gulmarg but took 2 to 3 hours to reach at the top. The local management is very rude & system is managed very poorly.
we have booked airport to airport taxi service with visiting gulmarg,srinagar but due to unprofessional trade union you cnt take out your cab inside gulmarg. means u ve to depends local taxi service without any fixed rate to see beautiful places in gulmarg...our booked cab was inside hotel for two days & I paid nearly 6000 hardly for 50 km travel inside gulmarg in Travera. Gondola entry was so poor not senior citizen friendly at all.lot of dirt..you have to stand in Que for hours in a sunny day..once you wld be entering gulmarg,full off vendors wld be trying to pressurise you for disty jacket,show but dnt go for it unless u really need it. the best part of visit is Buta patthari,an army protected area which is beautiful...u need clearence to enter there and strawberry valley...hotels are not good...u can try for luxury tent in vally
Better to book on line. always reach well before time as there is huge rush for boarding on to the Gondola. If booking is made online always reach early to collect the boarding pass for the counter where again there is a big line. There are no instruction given any where near the gondola where to get the boarding pass from. so must reach early to find out. lot of rushing and pushing all around.
