Ascend is a top-notch Kilimanjaro tour guide company that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an unforgettable trekking experience.
From start to finish, the team at Ascend was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful.
Before my trip, the staff at Ascend provided me with all the necessary information and resources to prepare for the trek, including a detailed packing list, recommended training plan, and visa application guidance.
They were also very responsive to any questions or concerns I had leading up to the trip.
During the trek, our guides were outstanding. They were experienced and skilled climbers who made sure we were safe and comfortable throughout the journey. They were also friendly, personable, and shared a wealth of information about the mountain and the surrounding area, making the experience even more enriching.
The equipment and food provided by Ascend were a little lackluster but got the job done. Although to be fair the fried chicken and chips they served and breakfast were pretty tasty- more chicken! There was more than enough food each day. New tents and sleeping pads could also help make the experience a bit more pleasant.
Overall, I had an incredible experience with Ascend and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to climb Kilimanjaro. My friend and I were able to summit to Uhuru peak successfully for an incredible sunrise and made it all the way back down the mountain that very same day. It really was a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget, Thanks Ascend team!
Both guides Dixon and Saidi were amazing very friendly and knowledgeable and made the experience well worth it. They continued to encourage us and always check in on us to make sure my whole group was doing okay. The porters they used were also phenomenal, very friendly, and impressive for what they do for you. They went out of their way to help us even more than what was expected. It felt like a big family. Overall highly recommend this company.
I signed up for Ascend Tanzania's 4-day Mt. Meru climb. All was arranged easily and seamlessly from Canada, from initial contact to meeting my guide and the rest of the field team (cook, 2 porters). As I was flying into Arusha, AT recommended several hotels. I decided to try a different hotel before and after the climb, both were great. I was travelling solo but found it easy to connect with other climbers who had the same summit day; with the same schedule, we would constantly be crossing paths during our time together on the mountain. Summit Day was long and hard but I made it with the support of the AT team accompanying me.
An absolutely amazing experience with Ascend Tanzania - my guide, Dixon, was very knowledgeable and I could tell he was well respected among other guides on the mountain. He very helpful through a few tough days of trekking. The rest of the team were super friendly and ready to assist wherever possible to ensure I had the best experience. Everyone made me feel like part of the team, which is important as a solo trekker.
Only flaw was that the sleeping bag which was included in the cost was losing feathers and a bit cold during the night.
Ascend Tanzania was amazing both before, during and after our trip! We felt safe with and encouraged by the guides all the way to the top and down again, we enjoyed delicious food from the chef (a luxury when hiking), and we really appreciated the porters carrying our luggage and all other equipment needed. The crew did not only “do their job”, but they were also so friendly and sociable from the beginning.
We did the Machame route (6 lay overs), and all three of us made it to the top. The summit day was a bit tough, especially as two of us felt the hight sickness. We hiked from the second last camp to base camp during the morning, from base camp to the summit and back to base camp during the night, and then from base camp and back down to the foot of the mountain during the afternoon (three heavy hikes in 24 hours, in other words). If I were to do it again, I would go for 7 lay overs. Furthermore I would pay the little extra for toilet facilities.
I do not hesitate to recommend this company, they were great!
NB! Remember to tip the crew!
It was well organised, the guides and porters were excellent. Food was very good and more thank enough. They always helpful and willing to go the extra mile for us. We had a 100% success rates submitting.
