The Ascend team are nothing short of amazing. We had 10 trekkers in our team, all south africans staying in different parts of the world. We came together for an7 day machume trek guided by Mussa, Amin, Tony, Bokko, Nasir and 33 Porters. The team cared, supported and looked after us so well. They made sure we achieved a 100% success rate on our climb and did whatever it needed to get us there. We ha e developed lifelong friendships with the guides and will forever remember this trip and them. I highly highly recommend the Ascend team. You won't go wrong.

An initial slow start to our expedition and arriving at our first camp in the dark and cold was the only time we experienced trepidation. Our time on Kilimanjaro with our group, guides and support staff was truly an exceptional experience. We not only bonded with our team mates, but also with our 5 guides whom we affectionately called "The big 5". Mussa, Nasiri, Armini, Bokari and Tony. All of them performing above and beyond their duties. We felt safe and well cared for. Samson and Noordien took excellent care of us in the food tent and our cook tried his best to accommodate us. The food was what one would expect for camp food and we were well fed. Our tented accommodation worked well and we were cosy and dry every night. So grateful we decided to hire portable toilets....a definite must!
Summit night is different for everyone. Unfortunately for me I suffered severe altitude sickness early on in the climb. What should have taken 6 to 7 hours took me 10 hours. This would have been impossible without the caring assistance I received from our guides Mussa and Nasiri. Without them and my husband, I would not have made it to summit. My guides ensured I summited and then rushed down with me reaching camp within an hour. 10 hours up, 1 hour down. I am grateful to them for helping me achieve this. Thank you Ascend for the excellent guides, porters and all the additional staff who made our Kili experience so special

Our group of 10 couldn’t have had as amazing a time as we did if it wasn’t for Ascend. There was a perfect balance between fun and professionalism. We truly bonded with our five guides who went beyond just doing their job to ensure we all summited doing the seven day Machame route. Mussa, Tony, Bokari, Amini, and Nasiri made the trip what it was.

Working with Ascend as a locally based company was great and professional in terms of efficiency and service. The food was reasonably good and staff were responsive to feedback on meals/mealtimes. Our tents were comfortable, mattresses and pillows are included.

Summiting Kilimanjaro is an emotional success that Ascend enabled us to achieve. I’d recommend using Ascend on your next Kili journey.
