We arrived unannounced, tired from a long drive up from Nairobi. We were greeted and told where to park. After a cold fresh juice, Brian showed us rooms that were available and we selected 2.
Balmoral is situated right on the shore of Lake Victoria. I think it may have once been a house. The main entrance and lounge is decorated in white and black with red accents. A stainless steel double staircase leads up to the bedrooms. Each bedroom is well decorated, clean with plenty of white towels. Facilities are available to have a hot drink. The dining room is up stairs, small but, nicely decorated. The menu is limited but the food is well cooked very tasty and always hot.
The staff, Brian, Ian and Winnie were very friendly and very kind. My 1 year old grandson was with us and they went out of their way to cater for his needs. The owners were also very friendly. We learned that they had been struggling with flood waters last year, subsequently losing their beautiful garden.
A little attention should be paid to maintenance, the shower door fell off as I opened it! However, it was repaired the following day.
We enjoyed our stay, it was relaxing.More
