I spent one nights at North Gate (Khwai) Campsite during a camping trip into the Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana. It was booked and paid for prior to our arrival, this was done at The National parks and Wildlife Service in Maun.
It has 10 large pitches, There is no drinking water or electric.
This was our least favourite campsite in Moremi, It was dirty, I think this was due to the lack of a designated ‘campfire’ space, so fires had been lit all over pitches. This campsite is also close to the Khwai Village, you can hear dogs barking all night long, very loud singing, but it was Sunday?
The ablution blocks are new, built with joint funding from the EU. There are solar panels for hot water, but they did not seem to be operating. This could be due to the villagers useing the ablution blocks ( I don’t blame them) so hot water is an issue.
Baboons were also a problem here, they were more aggressive than at Third Bridge Campsite.More
