Stayed at the Manutara last year while on vacation and got pretty much what I expected a clean but plain room and bathroom with pretty decent water pressure.

The hotel staff was very friendly and the morning breakfast was again basic but good.

I did request a room with a double bed but ended up with a room with two twins, which was fine, but there was a note welcoming my wife and I to the hotel...which would have been great if I were married, in the 1940's on a sitcom.

But other than that hiccup it was a very decent stay and certainly met my expectations which had been set fairly low for no other reason than Easter Island being as remote as it is.

The hotel is a basic hotel, nothing too special. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, as well as the surrounding areas. The breakfast was nice too.

Being on Easter Island, you can't expect much in the most remote area of the word. The majority of the time you will be out visiting the Moai and seeing the landscape anyways.

I can not comment on the price as this was included as part of a package tour and I do not know the nightly rate. I did not swim in the pool either, so I can not comment on that.

We chose Hotel Manutara based on several previous reviews that rated the hotel ok for its moderate prices and adequate service. We did not expect a very clean and well-maintained hotel. The grounds and gardens were filled with beautiful areas, for strolling and always clean and neat, and the staff was courteous and helpful. It did not seem like a low-priced hotel for travelers on a budged - it was excellent (even the breakfast included).

Room Tip: I can't say -

Just 20 minutes walk from town and just 800m from the airport makes it
a nice and easy location. Unfortunately the receptionstaff just spoke
Spanish (very little English) but were helpfull.

Hotel refused to book just one night so we were forced to book 2
nights instead. Because of plane arrival/departure times and
breakfast-time (8AM-10AM) we were unable to get the included
breakfast. For US$15 extended breakfast was an option but better value
can you get in town.

Rooms were quite spacious (which you could expect for US$185/night)
but look old and ready to be refurbished. Noise from neighbours and
airport (just 11 flights a week so less of a problem). Bathroom was
smelling funny.

Try and find another hotel at better value!

I stayed for five nights at Hotel Manutara. The room was clean, very large and very comfortable. The staff were always attentive, easy to find, helpful and gracious.
I liked being on the edge of town for the quiet (though you could still hear the surf down the road (very pleasant).
The landscaping is beautiful and I walked around at all times, on and off the hotel grounds, and felt very safe.
The buffet breakfast was a great start for a busy day. The restaurant is a pleasantly furnished room and a great place to meet new friends.
Further from town, one can walk to the Vinapu archeological site. It sits on a breathtaking cliff overlooking the ocean and frequented at times, by cows and goats.
The Makenet Restaurant just next door to the hotel serves delicious lunches and dinners. I had the ceviche which came with rice and a very large avocado salad (fantastic!)
The food is excellent and not a bad price (around $20 for this, bread rolls and water with gas).
A sweet yet very finicky couple I met ate there frequently.
A walk in the other direction will get you to an internet cafe in fifteen minutes (ten for me). A few blocks more and you are in town.
Yes, I will stay here next time I visit.
